Wheels rebuilt on Campagnolo Electron/ Shamal Hubs

“German Lightness” is his branding, from Frankfurt. Putting too wider rims will then limit my use on older frames. On my Serotta Atlanta, with its original Kinesis carbon fork, it barely fits a Vittoria Corsa 25 tire. My Chesini X Uno also has problems fitting a 25 at the back, chainstay bridge.

Wheels rebuilt on Campagnolo Electron/ Shamal Hubs

My wheel builder already ordered H Plus Son Archetype rims for the Electron hubs. When everything is assembled together, I will let you know if you want to buy my old Electron rims.

Wheels rebuilt on Campagnolo Electron/ Shamal Hubs

24 holes, front and rear. ERD of the new rims? I have to check the online information for the future rims.

Wheels rebuilt on Campagnolo Electron/ Shamal Hubs

They are the clincher version. If everything works well and you’re interested in buying them, I’ll keep you updated.

Wheels rebuilt on Campagnolo Electron/ Shamal Hubs

I’ve already checked with my wheel builder, he was also very sceptical at first, but I showed him the exploded diagram and he’s sure he’ll do it. The Electron rims are not G3 laced pattern (thank goodness)! So 24 spokes spread evenly is no problem. The rims will be H Son Plus Archetype, the...

Wheels rebuilt on Campagnolo Electron/ Shamal Hubs

Hello! This is probably a long shot but… has anyone here ever built up a set of wheels using the Electron/ Shamal hubs? I have a set of Electron clinchers in very good condition, the ones I used on the Serotta Atlanta in a BOTM challenge. But I would like to put modern rims on the hubs, to go...

Plain Jane, 1983 Serotta Nova Special, Now Completed.

Thanks for the reply! I saw your tools on your flickr feed 👀😄 After my painter is finished with the touch-ups, I’ll go to my favoured experienced mechanic and will do the work there. If he doesn’t have the alignment tools, I think I’ll order the Cyclus ones for myself. Exciting Colnago! Can...

Plain Jane, 1983 Serotta Nova Special, Now Completed.

Awesome build! I also own a Serotta Atlanta in “Big Boy Blue”, circa ‘98 in lovely condition. Can I ask, how did you cold set your frame to 130, did you use the alignment tool for it? I need to do that on a Chesini X Uno. On my Scapin, also with 126 RHS, I just shoved the wheel in and hoped it’s...

    Kona Kapu 1997

Great build, love it! Only niggle is, the brake levers are in the “open” position, meaning that you have more room to take the wheel out. They should be with the pin pushed it, closed and that way you’ll have the proper braking performance and shorter lever travel, especially when on the drops.

    Raleigh Banana 531c Build.

Great builds! On the topic of headset for a short steerer, had the same issue with my Scapin. Wanted to install a new Campagnolo Record on but the total stack height was too big, so I resorted to the trusted but ugly 105 headset. After a lot of research, I found that Tange Levin CDS have some of...

    Restored Scapin Atec

So I’ve found this Scapin Atec frame in allegedly SLX tubing in size 51/52 on eBay, during Covid “fever”, wanting to keep myself busy. I was always intrigued by the brand and their frames, honestly I would’ve loved one of their Barco generations, or late ‘90s racers, but those are impossible to...

    What would you choose?

…ok, sounds simple. But, which one is “the better frame”? Both are pretty common I think, which one should feel “better” for a 65kg rider? Yeah, I guess l’ll just have to try it out. 😃

    What would you choose?

Hello there, I’m considering changing the frame of one of my road bikes. A Serotta Atlanta circa 1997-1999, in Big Boy Blue, size 52 (seat tube), top tube 52.5. The seat tube I find it too long for my short legs, as you can tell from the picture/ setup. It has the Kinesis carbon fork. I found...

Who’s riding road bikes these days?

I'd like to see those young ones being introduced to bike parks, enduro/ trail, etc. Who knows, maybe 10% of them are actually talented and get the bug and will ride mtb's properly. But if the area where they live doesn't invest/ support in these activities... I think a pump track should be just...
