    1988 British Eagle

Re: Uch, money, I remember it well :? Like your 86 model. Shame they went for horrid forks sometime between our two examples. Liking yours very much. I'm after another Eagle to make something similar to yours. Given how long it took to get this one, I'm not holding my breath!

    CB Enduro age?

This is my Claud Butler Enduro, used as a hack and shopping bike. I've always wondered how old it is. Anyone know? Came my way by accident a few years ago as a rusted up heap. Stripped back to bear essentials and 7-speed (no hills round here). It's the non-lugged frame and claims to be CrMo...

    1988 British Eagle

So, six years on from joining the forum to ask about a mystery bike (now LGF's Saracen Conquest, if he still has it) I'm getting back into the game... Since seeing one in a bike shop back in the 80s, I've been after one of the 'rainbow' British Eagle 531 mountain bikes. Finally, last month, I...

    Early Raleigh Maverick

Morning chaps, Thought I'd best post this on here before sticking the bike on fleabay, seeing as you're the hotbed of elderly MTBs... I have here an early Raleigh Maverick (or most of one at least!), probably 1987? All original bits, rims, stem, bars, levers, gear shift, bottom bracket and...

    1948 Raleigh Clubman

Recntly finished this, a 1948 Raleigh Clubman. Opted to complete it with improvements, ie build the bike Raleigh should have, rather than what they did. Rides really well. Only a hundred miles on it so far, but it's become my favourite bike already. Just awaiting delivery of...

    531 'thing' - 15/10/10 update

Wow, it looked good before, but looks downright sexy now :D Glad it fell into your hands, it was only ever planned to be a hack for me  and would doubtless be pretty knackered and rusty by now :?

    531 'thing' - 15/10/10 update

It looks awesome  I'm very upset about the asymmetrical way you've left the front mudguard clamps, please re-adjust them so they're perfectly positioned and symmetrical  Agree about the brace on the bars, lose it soon  All in all, a really fine job, really happy...

    531 'thing' - 15/10/10 update

Ok ok, I admit it; it's quite nice  ... but I think shiny black mudguards would've looked nicerer, and a shiny Sturmey Archer 3-speed, and north road handlebars, and a big comfy seat :P like what I've done to the Pug

    Help to identify MTB frame

Had a thorough look over the bike this afternoon, and only came across one bad point. The front brake didn't work, and on close inspection one of the cantilever brake mount posts is broken off the little square bit that's welded to the fork arm. If I keep the bike, I'll just shove a really long...

    Help to identify MTB frame

I wouldn't even know where to begin with regards to selling :? Considering it was bought as an "emergency" bike for the foul weather with a view to stripping it for parts later, it's value in my head was pretty much zero. Maybe it will turn out to be one of those happy accidents

    Help to identify MTB frame

You ARE the daddy  I'm not sure I know what to do with a bike like this  I've never had anything at this level. Oh well, looks like I'm gonna have to ride it then :?

    Help to identify MTB frame

Couldn't say for sure, I'm not up on road stuff. It's a mixture of Shimano chain rings & pedals, Suntour rear mech and front changer and Shimano cogs. I reckon someone's built a bitsa at some stage. I like the frame a lot, it's grown on me, though I'm only riding one-handed due to a bust wrist...
