    Help IDing Klein model/year

Kleins could be custom ordered with most of the color choices back in the day, except Klein reserved the “gator fade” frame color for Adroits only when the Adroit first came out. I have a 92 Pinnacle in Candy Red that was custom ordered when Pinnacles were painted a standard silver.

Rusty16's First Year Santa Cruz Tazmon

I'm finally posting photos of my 1994 Santa Cruz Tazmon that I offered a glimpse of here a couple of years ago. As the Tazmon was Santa Cruz's first bike, this makes this bike a very early example of what Santa Cruz was doing to bring full suspension to the mountain bike scene. Of course, at the...

    Santa Cruz Tazmon 1995/96

When I bought this frame, the equalizing pulley was falling apart. After searching everywhere, I found a sliding screen door pulley that was a perfect match! Bought two…

Looks very nice, Woody. Do you have the pivoting pulley for the rear brake? Is that an 18” frame?

    Santa Cruz Tazmon 1995/96

Hello, the Tazmons have the serial # under the bottom bracket. The earliest Tazmons had 3 or 4 digit serial numbers. Later, starting 1995, they went to a more standard serial number system with letters and numerals. The first two numbers are the year. The Tazmons originally had an integral seat...

    1996 Homegrown Sweet Spot

Thanks for all the kind words! I actually own three URT bikes now. I have a Gary Fisher Joshua F3, similar to the Trek Y bikes, that has the pivot low and just behind the bottom bracket. It doesn’t have much noticeable rear travel and is on the heavy side. I also have a Klein Mantra Race that is...

    1996 Homegrown Sweet Spot

So, time to jump in and post a bike! This is a 1996 Schwinn Factory Homegrown XT with the well-known Sweet Spot URT rear suspension in 19" large. I bought this bike as a frame only and built it over the last year. For those unfamiliar with the Schwinn Homegrowns, this bike was welded by...

    Santa Cruz Tazmon 1995/96

Hello Again…Yeah, Risse is still there, although they seem pretty swamped lately. I’ve been waiting for a shock for over a month and I’m one of the “priority locals”. Your best bet is to call them and talk to either Justin or Kevin. I've heard second hand they’re not great about responding to...

    Santa Cruz Tazmon 1995/96

Hello, New guy here from central Oregon. It's great to see the old Santa Cruz bikes popping up. I've been a fan for a long time and have been renewing several old Superlight and Heckler frames this last winter. I'm currently bringing back a Bullit 1, but am super excited about my latest find...a...
