A mix of M952 and M953 on my 'new' bike - help please!

That's interesting to know. If I find it weak or difficult to tune up I might just swap it for a 952 - they seem to last forever and shift perfect, every time.

Re: Now ordered an 11 30T from SJS. Only an SG50 but it will do the job :) Now...where's that cassette tool I've not used for 10 years!

A mix of M952 and M953 on my 'new' bike - help please!

Re: Thanks for your reply and that is a help:) The chain I have is a new 116 link Shimano HG and is plenty long enough certainly for the short mech. Glad to hear that the shifters work OK in reverse. So on reflection it looks like a 9 speed 30T cassette will sort out the woes. Is there one...

A mix of M952 and M953 on my 'new' bike - help please!

Hello, I have bought a new bike for the girlfriend, picked it up today. Before picking it up, the seller noticed that it had 9 speed (M952) shifters but an 8 speed cassette. So he swapped over a 9 speed cassette before I arrived. No problem, apart from the chain was too short for me to test it...

    My Coyote HT5 Ultralite build

That does help, thank you :) I guess they would only build each frame for a year or two before the next came out, so it gives a good idea of the date.

To satisfy my curiosity, can anyone confirm the date of the HT5?

    My Coyote HT5 Ultralite build

Still running about in this. Still have the rather out of place LX cranks. Other than the tyres are now both 2.1 as could not find the 1.9 at the time and considerably more scratches, all is as it was when I built it. Still a cracking bike in my opinion :)

    My Coyote HT5 Ultralite build

Just weighed in...9KG = 19.8lb - which I think is quite light? How do people weigh their bikes on here? Mine is pretty crude - weight myself, then myself with bike and then subtract my weight! So probably not very accurate.

Carbon seat post - safe to use a shim?

Nice one, thanks MJN, good to hear it from someone that has actually used one personally :) Was it jsut a standard alloy shim you used? I have ordered a USE one so should be fairly decent quality :) p.s found by far the cheapest place to buy shims is this place: www.dotbike.com - a wide range...

Carbon seat post - safe to use a shim?

Im not that heavy...11.5 stone...depends how fat you class as fat I guess hehe! I also don't have much seatpost poking out about 140mm so I am hoping that will work in my favour! (argueably I should have gone for a 17" instead of a 19" frame buy hey ho)

Carbon seat post - safe to use a shim?

Hello...just a quickie...I have been on the lookout for an Alien Cyclops seatpost as I liked the last one that I had...finally found and bought one...but it is a 25.0mm and my frame is 26.8mm. Is it safe to use a shim? I know it is fairly normal to use an alloy shim on an alloy post, but is...
