    Suntour XC Comp Pedal issue

I am out of ideas why this is happening. I have a set of Suntour XC Comp pedals. While rebuilding my 86 MB-1 the right pedal body would loosen up like the outside dust cap screw would back off. Found out the outside bearing was bad. They do not made the same letter# bearing today. I found a...

1" Fork Crown Race will not set

Replacing a1" Shimano 600 heatset (it's shot) with a 1" Ritchey headset on a MB-1 Bridgestone. I cannot get the fork crown race to press on the fork. It seems that the old headset fork crown race sets lower on the fork than the Ritchey. I have used a pipe that covers the race and a rubber...

1986 MB-1 Bridgestone Competition- Project FINISHED

This is a before and after picture for my Roller Cam Brakes. On the right is what I am starting with. On the left is the result of about 2 and -a -half hours of work. I used different methods of cleaning and polishing to get that result. I used ceramic oven top cleaner to clean all the brass...

1986 MB-1 Bridgestone Competition- Project FINISHED

You can see how nasty this wheel was. It looks like bar oil for a chain saw was used on this drive train. One of the things that I have learn working on project bikes, is that you have to take everything apart and clean it before you know if you have crap or not. Most of the time the grease and...

1986 MB-1 Bridgestone Competition- Project FINISHED

Not sure how much if any design input was from Peterson on the 86 MB-1 since he had only been working for Bridgestone USA for about two years. Looks like you are the owner of one of most idiosyncratic of Petersen's designs

1986 MB-1 Bridgestone Competition- Project FINISHED

I had posted the Bridgestone back in 2009 when I got the bike as a Father's Day gift from my wife. It has been sitting on the back burner since I was having a custom cross built. SN#A680660 so I think it was made in January 1986 A buddy of mind was the owner of the bike and said he paid...

Noob and first real Retro Project Bike

Thanks for the feed back. I guest the first place I will start is with a good cleaning and treat the frame. I think if I keep it as is, then I will have to put in on a good biking trip and take it down the GAP & the C&O Canal.

Noob and first real Retro Project Bike

Hi All, New to the forum and a noob to the retro bike stuff. I did do a restoration last year on a 96 Bontrager Privateer Comp with a Waltworks fork and a mix of old & new parts. But I know in some circles that does not count because it's not a true Bontrager frame. I have a shot at...
