Re: Ridgeback/Maddison Ah maybe it was the same thief who stole my friends Yamaha RD350 the same year in Amsterdam! This early Ridgeback has gone home, bought off me by Maddison U.K. the Ridgeback importers where I’m told it is proudly on display in their reception area. Which is nice....

I agree I love the colour and the stem is rad. If you look at the topic called 80s ridgeback you will see focomat 1c has provided loads of info about these early Ridgebacks and dated this as 84 and as Ridgeback was founded in 83 it makes this one of the first to be sold in the U.K. one previous...

    80s Ridgeback

Re: first ridgebacks Wow Graham superb info , thanks on behalf of everyone on this site I’m sure. Interesting point about the first entry into the U.K. I had a 2nd hand bomber around 83 and my mates and I would mainly jump plank ramps outside our houses on it. I think Raleigh had sent an R&D...

    80s Ridgeback

Re: 80S RIDGEBACK more info hi Focomat Interesting time searching my Ridgeback, some points match with what you asked for others not, so starting with brake levers there is no stamped information at all apart from Red-S which after a quick search on here seems they were Madisons own brand. They...

Hi Guys , I've been asked to start a new topic in Readers Wife's, oh sorry, Readers Bikes, yes meant Readers Bikes (old habits die hard) I am now the proud owner of an early Ridgeback in all original condition down to tyres and possibly brake blocks as the anodising has yet to wear off the rims...

First UK production mtb a Ridgeback?

So could mine be an 83? I read on here somewhere that Ridgeback started in Canada in 83 but didn't enter Europe till '84, so maybe mines an '84? It has Madison seat, bi-plane forks, slingshot SR stem and seems all original down to brake blocks and tyres! Amazing huh?

    80s Ridgeback

Re: early 80s Ridgeback Hi Guys Does anyone know what year ? I know ‘84 was their first entry to Europe and judging by the spec I don’t see why this couldn’t be an ‘84 it does have bi-plane forks. I’ve added more photos, like I said previously seems to be all original components even tyres...
