That makes more sense. I have checked and I only have 5 '98 numbers and they have 3 different formats. I guess in 1998 they started sourcing different frames in the range from different factories.

Ah of course. My single speed which I think I finally confidently identified as a Scott has an MT number. That'll be what I was thinking of.

That seems unusual, a photo of the serial number might help. I think that was the only steel LTS, so it could have been made somewhere else, but it seems unlikely and all the '96 serials I have are Sanfa and therefore begin with an S. Do you have other brands with serials start MT Sam? It rings...

Yes, the problem for me is it is to go on a similar but not the same yellow frame ..... it would have clashed without repainting it and that seems wrong for a rare mech.

That's the one, though usually they are painted. I had the chance once and waited to see if I could get a better colour than yeloow and now regret it.

It's been so long that I can't remember the size of the Tiso cassette and chainrings I have, but if a short cage came up I would be tempted. I think the early version only came in long cage though.

You certainly don't. They have just added a lot of NOS mechs (xt, xtr, xc pro included), headsets and other goodies. No Tiso Venda for me to agonise over though.
