    They are lovely cranks but not without issues re age related wear. A ‘sleeper’ quality historical crank which is really light, forged and tough is the Sugino Fuse. Used those on bombproof lightweight builds in the past and available for peanuts.

    And in terms of oiling - have your mod’d the auto chain oiler? A longer bar requires a higher oil flow of course, and a much longer bar can cause inadequate oiling

    We fell with trunks twice the length of the bar, using thrust cuts and wedges. It’s a great, precise technique which can be used on ‘leaners’.
