Rigid, Straight Fork for 1994 Kona Kilauea Mountain Shock

Thanks for the offer - they truly are lovely, and this is very tempting... but I would like to see first how this rigid fork thing pans out...

Rigid, Straight Fork for 1994 Kona Kilauea Mountain Shock

Cheers! By that XC51 I was referring to the very original fork - which I don't have. In between, a previous owner has replaced the original one with MZ Comp (2004?) that has too long a travel/a-c for this frame and I would like to revive the old geo. PS. Dr_Marzocchi - what a Marzocchi archive...

Rigid, Straight Fork for 1994 Kona Kilauea Mountain Shock

Wanted: a rigid, straight cromoly fork for a 1994 Kona Kilauea Mountain Shock to replace the original Marzocchi XC51. Surely the original rigid option, TB P2, would be great - the frames were identical - but it could be something different. The axle-to-crown of the og sus fork was 416mm, so...

ID: Sub 2kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona?

Hi Kubel, The frame is still not identified. As mentioned in the very beginning of this thread, Biria MX700 is pretty close, but it has round seat stay and chain stay ends and the seat post is 27.2 mm...

ID: Sub 2kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona?

Re: ID: 1960g mid90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? The frame totally stripped, and what happened - 1886g!!!!! I don't know how much the paint weights, but I must have done a mistake earlier. For such a large-ish (TT 59 cm; TT effective 61,5 cm) frame, sub-1900 g is a good number...

    Show us your Scott!!

Can anyone tell why some Scott models - as the '90 Boulder - apparently have both (a) brake cable routing brazed-on noodles on the seat tube (see the skolioza's Boulders) and (b) rear brake bridge cable stops (see http://www.scottmtb.cz/_data/scott-a-ka ... t-1990.pdf)? Here's another example...

ID: Sub 2kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona?

Re: ID: 1960g mid90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? I removed the headset cups and the bottle cage bolts to get the weight right - 1960 g. So much better than the previous 2.044 kg... I also applied a bit of bio paint remover to the bottom tube, expecting it to tell secrets about the...

ID: Sub 2kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona?

Re: Re: It's back again, I removed a bit more paint there and that's the one. When I first saw the very faint number down there, I wanted to see B93.... as that seemed to match quite well with the estimated production year, but after the patch paint removal, it certainly is B99.... and that...

ID: Sub 2kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona?

Re: Re: sinnerman - I was referring to this. Sorry, I should have made a quote. No positive progress on the frame identification to report. The Biria scenario is starting to fall apart; besides the evident structural differences around the head tube (the reinforcement rings) and the...

Re: ID: 2 kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? Just added the head tube reinforcement rings (thanks, sjofels) to the list of distinctive details of the frame (see the first post). Could this lead us somewhere else than Taiwan, e.g. Italy - they seem to have them more frequently...

Re: ID: 2 kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? Yes, indeed - sorry. I have so many windows open, and I was looking at the bratfass/sithlord/ringo/Johnboy version of it: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=164898 viewtopic.php?f=6&t=278350

Re: ID: 2 kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? Thanks, sjofels; I was not aware of your mtbr gallery photos before. Your Biria differs quite a bit from what has been my reference point so far and what we've seen here (picnicker74's Biria): https://www.flickr.com/photos/skywalker...

ID: Sub 2kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona?

Re: ID: 2 kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? I removed the patch paint, and now the latest guesstimate - and as good as it gets I'm afraid - of the serial number is: B997518; 3 from yesterday is now definitely 9; scratches around 1 and so it could be 4, but I would say it's 1...

Re: ID: 2 kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? The BB shell has patch paint all over the place, but I decided to give it one last try - and with the right light angle, unbelievable but true, I found the following: BXXXXXX 3 very unclear, pure guesswork; 1 a bit uncertain. And...

Re: ID: 2 kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? Breaking news: it's from Germany. I called the seller, and he said that the previous owner brought it from there. Maybe he said it earlier, but all my eyes and ears were back then on the fork - I didn't care about the past because I...

Re: ID: 2 kg mid 90s steel frame - with TB P2 but not Kona? Back in the mid to late 90s, Specialized - as did Schwinn earlier - seemed to spec a lot of Ritchey on their bikes, and that's why I checked them first. By the way, my frame had a Ritchey seat post, definitely vintage (and so maybe had...
