    1988 Muddy Fox Explorer.

Re: Re: Yes, Shrewsbury too - Abbey Foregate/Monkmoor Rd area... so not far! Yes, I think you're right, I've not seen those fastbacks anywhere else... my Courier is lugged as well.

Re: That looks really nice.... Very clean! Edit: those fastback seat stays are unusual... my 86 Courier doesn't have them.

    86 Muddy Fox Courier project

Ok so a little update. The frame/forks are back from Bournes in Birmingham - they did a good job in my opinion. They masked the threads and bosses/steerer tube etc (although I did check first) and turned it around in a couple of days. Would definitely use them again. Friendly as well. The colour...

    Happy 30th Birthday !

Re: Re: Haha! Yes, your does look in similar state to mine! You've done an amazing job it has to be said - well done. If I can get halfway close then I'll be happy. I do like the blue you have used though - is that a RAL colour? I found someone else on here with mine...

    Happy 30th Birthday !

Lovely Ridgeback! And thanks for the scan of the black one. You don't happen to have any info about the original spec of these do you? I admit that I haven't looked very hard as I have only just rescued this black Ridgeback from the leaves and bushes. I'm unsure why there doesn't seem to be...

    Happy 30th Birthday !

Lovely! I have a similar one to do soon that has been neglected... it doesn't have those "bi-plane" forks (which may mean it is a slightly later incarnation) and has a Shimano 200GS triple on it in place of the original, but in other respects, it's very similar. It has the full Red S front and...

    86 Muddy Fox Courier project

Re: Re: Small world, I'm in Shrewsbury too! Yes try them - they replied to my emails and seemed OK. £50 for shot blast/powder coat and they will mask threads/ steerer/brake bosses etc for no extra charge - I specifically asked about this and whether I needed to do anything myself. 2-3 day...

    86 Muddy Fox Courier project

Yes some journey! Can't quite believe it is 6 years since I last posted... yikes. And OMG this forum is amazing - thanks so much for that tip about the original headset - I think I will go for it. At least I will know it ought to fit and will look correct. I remember them being a bit fiddly...

    86 Muddy Fox Courier project

Ok, so I'm back...! This is a bit of a "holy thread revival", but three children later , I've now returned to the MF.... The frame/forks is going off to Bournes in Birmingham next week, and I have sourced some additional bits. The bike may be rideable before the end of the year.... just...

    Headset removal/replacement (Muddy Fox Courier)

Just to let anyone know that's re-reading this, I used the 22mm copper pipe and cut 4 slits into one end about 4 inches long. Then splayed them out slightly and hey presto, job's a good'un! Worrks brilliantly. Thanks.

87' Muddyfox Courier Restoration - Finished!

Love the subtle differences between years and models... I originally had Suntour XC Sport on it. I still have the XC Sport front mech, but the rear is long gone...
