    Not a BMX but.....

Thank you, I'd actually say parts for the Grifter were harder to source than the Carlton!!

    Not a BMX but.....

I never had the Grifter, I had a Strika in 1982 when I was 6 but when I was old enough to progress to the Grifter in 1984 BMX's were all the rage so I had one of them. I always remember the Grifter being the 'must have' bike (The Chopper was a few years before my time) so I wanted one to relive...

Thanks Marge, just a bit of elbow grease and the paintwork came up like new!! That added with the new cables and polished up brightwork and it looks like new, very pleased with it. Thanks again.

Cheers mate, this bike was my pride and joy as a teenager so I owe the old girl a spruce up after so many years of her resting.

    Dawes Equinox (1990) Resto/Refurb.

Re: Re: Thanks nonowt. As the first photo shows it had a black Avocet Spenco Gel saddle on it back in the day, I'd love to put this back on it as I still have it although slightly perished and faded now. I've been on eBay looking for an identical replacement but I think they're as rare as...

    Dawes Equinox (1990) Resto/Refurb.

Thanks hamster. Yes, it's already looking good just fitting the new (retro look) amber wall tyres, also keeping it subtle with the red and white theme. The original frame had blue and white banded decals running diagonally down all the tubes but I want to keep it simple now with just the name...

    Not a BMX but.....

There was a July 1976 for sale on a Facebook page a few months back, I'd really have liked that as that was the year and month I was born but it was a bit pricey and needed work so I'll stick to the '78 (Aug).

    Not a BMX but.....

Thanks Minifreak, much appreciated. A bit different to how it was when I picked it up..... (and STILL the heaviest bike on the planet even now I'm 40 years old!!)

    Dawes Equinox (1990) Resto/Refurb.

Hi guys, thought I'd post up a thread of the restoration/renovation of my 27+ year old Dawes racing bike. The frame (which I think is a mid-eighties model) was bought for my 14th birthday (back in 1990!!!) and built it up as I went along using money from the job I had as a schoolboy at the...
