Cutting the threads off a fork to go AHEAD.

you can probably get a frame builder (like Bob Jackson or any other builder of classic configurations) to cut the threads further down the tube, then you don't need to go "ahead", unless you really want to. if you really wanted an ahead 1" fork you might also just be better off asking a frame...

How do I get an 8 speed Campag wheel to work with Shimano ?

if the pitch is just smaller just get thinner spacers and shim them out to the right stack... or if you have access to a surface grinder, just grind the originals. Alternatively I think Marchisio used to do conversions... not sure if they are still around... did it with 9 speed at the time (9...

Is it a Miyata or a Specialized?

Don't know for sure, but Miyata did certainly build for others and had to manage inventory of lugs with other brands too. So it could even simply have been a factory error (which is something pretty cool to have), or interference by anyone along the supply chain or ownership chain.

cheers for that... I guess my fall back solution is to put something "neutral" onto that frame like simplex retro frictions then... cant mix campag and shimano..... people have received the death penalty for lesser crimes. anyone else out that that knows of some conversion kit perhaps?

Expert advice needed on early Shimano downtube shifters

Im the process of building up a Koga Miyata with 7200 Dura Ace. I figured I'd be smart and get a bike that has a full group and simply transfer the parts to the Miyata, and was lucky to pick up a bargain. Stripping it down I discovered that the lever mounting braze-ons were totally different to...
