    Identifying a custom bike maker?

Okay cool, thanks Shaun, a new one on me. Here is a link to the recent purchase on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171835810457? ... EBIDX%3AIT As I say I have checked the bike fully and these are the only redeeming marks.

    Falcon Panther resto (FINISHED!)

Re: Falcon Panther resto begins: watch this space Best of luck with the work....especially with that paint :) A tip for the chrome is foil with Lemon and white vinegar. A cloth wheel bit to a drill and some metal polish all on a shoestring budget will get the best from the metal work and kill...

    Campag derailleur advice

Ha ha, Definitely not, only sound advice if you want indexed gears. I myself am quite happy with friction gears.

    Help with 1980 team Raleigh

Midlife, you are correct so apologies Newbie, I am tired and appeared to skip the third triple 0. A 1980 would possibly correspond to a Raleigh Team Professional but without a photo of the whole frame it is hard to tell. http://cycleexifcom.c.presscdn.com/wp-c ... eigh-1.jpg Does this link...

    1989 Brian Rourke Valuation Please

£250 if you want to sell it sooner. £350-£650 if you can wait for a 30 day listing or probably over. It is more about the hype you can build on your post.

    Campag derailleur advice

Front derailleur for indexed shifting of only a double is doable with a friction type front, a triple is more difficult. Rear derailleur as you posted for an indexed is possible but such a pain in the rectum you would be best buying an indexed rear arranged for near on the number of sprockets...

    Help with 1980 team Raleigh

I think it was closed early 80's off the top of my head so yes I agree it doesn't tally as 84 so should be 74. The design is as per the 1983 team replica from what I can see so it is maybe a copy but I cannot corroborate this beyond the stamp details either way.

    Campag derailleur advice

HI, I also have my eye on the same and was hoping to seek it under the radar! I assume you are intending on friction shifting and yes it should work fine but will need the screw adjustment altering and tuning to selected the range. The chain shouldn't be a problem assuming you have sized it...

    Help with 1980 team Raleigh

Worksop, 19th fortnight 1974 (or 1984?) the 556th to be made in that shift? (this is not confirmed) Not sure on the 4 but would normally have a letter designation for morning or afternoon of that shift. The colour scheme with Black head tube arose several times but I cannot tally it to the...

Creaky back wheel. Any tips to silence the bleeder...

Hi, I agree it sounds like the spokes but the only other thing I can thing is the rear dropouts being misaligned if you have had a crash or drop and or (and you don't mention whether you are using quick release) the quick release tension is not right. Even if it is but the rear drops are mis...

    Raleigh/BSA Weekender Help!

Hi, You don't need to recut the BB. There are a lot of raleigh bikes that have standard 24tpi thread as well. There are a number of identifying features and key bits of information to give a good direction. You don't mention the year which would help significantly. They are not necessarily...

Bike tools - any recommended sets out there?

Hi, I rebuild bikes and manage on a set of 3 adjustable wrenches, a set of allen keys, some pliers, some needle nose pliers can be useful but not necessary. A hammer, a small diameter nail punch (this is for knocking out and reinserting pins on chains, along with a nut for the rear). Just make...

    Identifying a custom bike maker?

Greetings all, First (and I am sure you get this all the time) apologies as this is my first post and I am asking a question. I am reasonably informed when it comes to building bikes and to a lesser degree riding them. I regularly scour the forums should I come across something new for further...
