    OT FS - Pashley-style vintage-but-new cycle

I tried to sell my iPhone earlier today. Ended up buying a bike. Not sure how that happened, but as I have a one-in-one-out rule for bikes (as I really have run out of space), something has to go. What's going is this... When I wanted a Pashley Guv'nor, but couldn't afford it, I built this...

    De Kerf, Hope, Mavic

Hi Lid, yup, I could call myself Richard, but I find this is a better way to attract bullies :D One of my old customers used to call me Little Browne Dick, which amused everyfody greatly, as I'm 6'2", even going to the lengths of asking for me that way when they called the company switchboard...

    De Kerf, Hope, Mavic

I've got a 18.5" Dekerf Team SL in Tangerine for sale, it's about 8 or 9 years old, so maybe not strictly Retro, but it is a lovely frame. V-brake only, patches covering the vulnerable bits, so paintwork is in pretty good nick. There are some chips, but I have a pot of DeKerf touch-up paint...

    Which (cheapish!) modern road bike?

Hold on, I'll try and add some pics to this post. There should be two bikes - the Carrera (I've only got one pic of that and it shows the wrong wheels, it's on silver Shimano's now, I put the Mavic's on another frame which suffered on a ride a while back). The other bike is a 531 Schauff...

    Surly Crosscheck

Like the 1x1 - interesting fixed cog, by the way, where did you get it from? I've been wanting to try a fixie, but wanted the chance of bailing to a single cog if it all got too much. It looks like it bolts onto the disc mounts, is that right? Could be just the thing for my (slightly more...

    Which (cheapish!) modern road bike?

Don't knock Carrera's - I've got a Gryphon with a mixed Shimano groupset, it's light, stiff and probably more fun to ride than my carbon roadie with 10speed 2007 105 and Mavic wheelset. Curiosuly enough, it's also for sale... Interested? It'll fit anyone between about 6' and 6'4 (maybe a...

    What a cool idea:

Found one! Couple of thoughts here - firstly a lot of bikes shops are now selling bottles with huge great mouth and no drinking bit on the lid, specifically for storing keys, mobiles etc (not a retro mobile though, that'd just be too big). Can't remember what they were called, but I've seen...

    Gerrard road bike?

Give it a go, you've nothing to lose but the cost of the paint. Make sure you prep properly, either key it in all over if the paint's decent, or strip it totally (using nitromore or similar) if it's really awful. Primer, topcoats (applied gradually to avoid runs), flat back, laquer, wait...

Tricks for removing rust anyone ???

My favourite method for removing surface rust from chrome is wire wool and wd40 - the '40 stops it scratching, just take it slow and gentle.

    New Brakes

Funnily enough, they were the first v-brakes I bought (and hence the first major upgrade, oh so many pounds ago). They're now nicely nestled on m'dad's bike, I cold never get them to work right on my Grisley but his Giant seemed to like them. I went the Shameano route.... Slippery slope.
