    Old Raleigh

Re: Sorry, didn't mean to cause offence. I think I just IDd my similar frame as a Raleigh Routier, but along the way I've only seen these odd brake and dynamo braze-ons on photos of a Raleigh Pacer and Sun Solo if that helps. Yours looks great now, inspiration to get on and do something too...

Help to identify an old bike, possibly a Raleigh tourer?

Re: Raleigh Routier, a touring frame in 18-23 tubes from 1988 or so, and in the original red, so case closed.

    What is this bike?

Re: I'm pretty sure now it's a Raleigh Routier from 1988 or so. Not Dawes or 531 or butted but it has the same touring geometry as a touriste, royal or randonneur done in cheaper and heavier high tensile 18-23 "gas pipe" tubing. The butgundy is just right too, so not a respray. I'm pretty...

    What is this bike?

Re: Thanks for the comments. I don't suppose I'll ever know for sure, but I'm back to wondering whether the fork at least is from a Sun Solo. I just replaced the bearings and the steerer has sky blue paint on it like some of them did. but it also has the number 16103 stamped on it which is...

    Old Raleigh

How did you know it was a Raleigh without decals or a badge? I have what looks like exactly the same frame with a respray and no markings, but there is a serial number of 5 digits then a letter F. The parts were a mixed bag of ages and makers when I bought it.

    What is this bike?

Re: Thanks for the suggestions. I looked closely at Dawes as a possibility and the lugs and plate are a match against this 1974 Galaxy http://coastkid.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/ ... m.html?m=1 The cable guides on mine may put it mid 80s or after and the plates and dynamo wiring set up may be a...

    What is this bike?

Re: I was wondering about sandblasting it back to metal and painting it. Do you think it looks worth the effort? It's the only road bike I have so I'd like it to last me a good while.

    What is this bike?

Sorry, that should have been hooks for a pump under the top tube. The axle for the bottom bracket has external threads. The seat post hole is pretty much one inch.

    What is this bike?

I have just revitalised a re-sprayed 23.5" steel road bike with a frame that almost matches only one of many 1980's light blue Sun Solo bikes among the many hundreds I've found pictures of on the forums and adverts. It has a plate brake bridge, braze-on and holes for left seat stay bottle...

Help to identify an old bike, possibly a Raleigh tourer?

Hi, I will put up a couple of pictures. This bike doesn't have the fitting on the right front fork for a light that the sun solos I can see on a quick Google search have. What colour were they in 1983? thanks Dave

Help to identify an old bike, possibly a Raleigh tourer?

I've bought a bike from our local recycling place that I'm hoping to do up a bit and ride but can't identify, and I'd like to ask for any suggestions please. It's about 25", has the old horizontal top tube, and has the serial letter F stamped on the bottom bracket but no numbers. I read on...
