Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

Re: Going to get a buddy to make me up new decals so will likely strip it down to the raw aluminum anyway. I think polishing it will be easier than dealing with the clearcoat.

Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

Re: Thanks. I'm actually surprised it went through as it was nail polish remover and not pure acetone. Still being able to recoat and blend it in would be nice.

Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

Re: Well I think I confirmed it is clear coated. I happened to be shopping for tires and asked one of the guys in the shop about refinishing the frame. He took a look and didn't think it was oxidation, and suggested I try acetone. I asked if this would harm the clear coat, and he said it...

Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

Re: It is YA1, so if may actually be a '91 purchased in '92. Thanks for everything! Pretty overwhelmed but I'm learning.

Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

Maybe it's not a '92? It has a Performance Paints decal on it which seems odd if it's not coated. Serial number starts with YA.

Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

Re: Thanks for the info. Those are steps I'm not prepared for yet (pretty new to this whole process), but in the future I'll clean it up. It's still a great ride, it just happens to look its age.

Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

I'll post a picture of it tomorrow, but the irony is that the decal protected the original look of the aluminium but the exposed part is rough to the touch and instead of being silver or grey it's coloured brown. Will update in the morning.

Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

Tried polish and that did nothing. The clay bar sounds promising... I'll repost after I try it to say whether or not it worked.

Fix Blemish On Clear Coat Aluminium Frame

Been riding a cirrus for over twenty years now and after posting have got the bug to make sure it's looking and running good. Over the years it's received the odd ding and blemish from riding, which isn't generally a problems, but today I decided to remove an old Oakley decal from the tube...

Klien Mantra (1996-2001) - Way to Date the Bike?

Re: Wow, thanks! I'll pass this on, maybe it'll jog his memory. Although he'll just miss entry into the retro pre-1997 forums it's still a cool ride.

    Building a Cannondale SE 2000

A flex-stem! I had one of those on an old Kuwahara before I got my Cirrus... wish I still had that. Great build on the Cannondale. I think there was so much more innovation in design back in the 90s, especially with suspension, than you see today...

Klien Mantra (1996-2001) - Way to Date the Bike?

A friend of mine has an old Klein Mantra and I was trying to date it for him. He seems to think he bought it in 2000, but I wonder if anyone here can ID it? Or if there are serial numbers that can be referenced? Link to a photo is here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=300646&p=2252538#p2252526 Thanks!

1992 Rocky Mountain Cirrus (First Post)

Thanks. Yeah I'm pretty happy with the decals just a few places where I took some hard knocks and they've warn out. I'm going to get my buddy to make me up a new Syncros decal and I think I'll pull off the old SPD and Syncros I have, plus an old Oakley one on the other side that's mostly gone...

1992 Rocky Mountain Cirrus (First Post)

Re: So have to thank you guys again... really riding a lot this year and this forum got me to call a friend of mine I haven't seen in 14 years! We haven't ridden together in longer... He and I always had an interesting rivalry as he was all about full-suspension and I was hard-tail all the way...

1992 Rocky Mountain Cirrus (First Post)

Re: Thanks. A friend of mine found this: http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/rocky-mountain but I don't think there is any of the text. I'll let you know if I find anything (or he does). Thanks RockiMtn - I replied before I looked at the next post. That could be everything I need.

Thanks. You don't happen to have actual fonts or anything that you used to create some of your work? Or was it all done by hand?

1992 Rocky Mountain Cirrus (First Post)

Re: Hey, not sure how many of you have subscribed to this, but will post here before I post in the main forum: I've noticed that my Rocky mountain decals are starting to wear off. Where are you all getting your replacement decals? I might have a buddy who can print me new ones, but I'd need to...

    1995 Scott Magnum Mk 2

That's a nice looking bike, but agree it appears to have been setup for some Sunday rides to Church or something with those bars and the saddle. I bet it's longing to stretch its wheels.

1992 Rocky Mountain Cirrus (First Post)

I love those shocks! I have a U-shaped aluminum piece attached to the front brakes to help keep the two sides of the RockShox from flexing independently, but those old AMPs wouldn't have that problem. Anyone know how many Cirrus \ Experience frames were produced? I'm aware they are slightly...
