    For Sale Peugeot 501 frame

Frame is straight and all threads are good, but it's been retouched with a... questionable....colour. The idea was to sand it and bring it back to new but I've had the frame for a while and haven't gotten around to do it yet. Size 54cm Seatpost not included. Also, takes a 25.6mm...weird...

    Peugeot Ventoux 501 seatpost - 26.0 or 26.2mm?

The 26.0 doesn't fit either! The outside diameter is 28.1 though, and the wall thickness is 0.9 which checks with the ID being 26.2 at the top. I can't imagine what kind of distortion might have caused the seatpost to shrink just below the top... I can fit up to 25.6 comfortably, 25.8 doesn't...

    Peugeot Ventoux 501 seatpost - 26.0 or 26.2mm?

I agree. At this point is almost surely 26.0 I doubt it's as little as 25.4 I'll try the 26.0 seatpost today and see how it goes.

    Peugeot Ventoux 501 seatpost - 26.0 or 26.2mm?

Update: I machined a seatpost down to 26.2 (26.14, to give it some tolerance) and doesn't fit. So maybe it's a 26.0!

    Peugeot Ventoux 501 seatpost - 26.0 or 26.2mm?

Thanks. I was leaning more towards it being 26.2 so this is a nice confirmation

    Peugeot Ventoux 501 seatpost - 26.0 or 26.2mm?

Those were the Carbolite frames. This is definitely 26.0 or 26.2 but as the lip of the seatpost is a bit damaged I can't quite take an accurate measurement. So if anyone could confirm I would feel more confident before buying a seatpost

Help setting up cantilever brakes (Kinesis Crosslight 5T)

Thanks. All very insightful points. I have to say that at the moment the lack of braking power is mostly down to a poor mechanical advantage more than flex/squishiness. Probably because of these thick pads (which are new, so I wonder if the previous owner just got the cheapest available just...

Hey, it is, but has been stored in an outside shed for a while now, so might not look as shiny as in the pictures :)

Using Sugino/Spa triple crankset as double

Got the Spa TD2 crankset in the 2x version. I am pleased to report it is straight, but it's exactly what you would expect for £30: badly finished. It works, and it allowed me to try 165mm crank length with minimal investment. I won't buy another one for my other bikes, but it served a purpose.

Using Sugino/Spa triple crankset as double

Thanks. It is beautiful. I don't partcularly like the "X" cranks, with their hidden arm behind the crank lever, but the finish is really nice. I ended up getting the double as I didn't want to risk running into clearance issues, but I'll post some pictures when I get it. Although now I might...

Help setting up cantilever brakes (Kinesis Crosslight 5T)

Hi guys, Not vey retro, but I've been wanting a Crosslight for a while and I finally found one at a good price and in my size! The only problem...brakes are sh*t I changed the pads (admittedly not the best on the market, but still...), but the brake power is still well below that of my road...

Using Sugino/Spa triple crankset as double

Thanks. I must say I don't like that. I can live with a bit of flex (I have puny legs in any case), but the out of line arms would be a disappointment. Let's see. For £30 I can't expect high quality, I suppose. It's not easy to find a black 165mm crankset, 110BCD, for square taper BB, so I...

Using Sugino/Spa triple crankset as double

A vintage Peugeot. I'll keep my 34-50 ratios for the time being, but it would be nice to have the option to switch to a 3x setup when I take the bike to the hills ;)

Using Sugino/Spa triple crankset as double

Hi guys, I am considering buying the Sugino-style crankset from Spa Cycles. Can I can use the triple as a double, provided I choose the right BB spindle length to have the correct chainline? I might want to switch to triple later on (I use friction shifters, so I would only need to change the...
