    Marin 'Team Marin'

VERY kind of you Al, but being in Oz, might not be so practical. Appreciate the offer though.. particularly 'lack' of disapproval ;-) for a little el-cheapo hack in amongst all the big-$ beauties on this site ;-)

    Marin 'Team Marin'

Update time. As I alluded to earlier, this frame ended up having quite a few dents in it and had little original left on it, so there was no point doing a restore. Instead I added a SS to my collection. This was done spending as little as I could. Only costs were paint, new bottom bracket...

    Marin 'Team Marin'

I hear ya. I went this way as I have my modern dually in black, modern HT in red and old 91 Stumpy in white... so I thought I'd try and step away from my usual conservatibve preferences and take a risk on a frame that was not worth a propper restoration to start with (due to the pre-mentioned...

    Marin 'Team Marin'

BG, It’s pretty easy to get an decent job with a spray can, but as you eluded to... impatience is usually a major contributor to a job not working out too well. So too is paint quality/choice and prep work. Being winter here its cold out, so my plan is to just leave it hanging inside for...

    Marin 'Team Marin'

Hey Gang, Well the painting is done. I just finished the frame 30 minutes ago and have brought it up from the garage to hange in the house (nice and warm) for a few days to harden. Sorry the frame pic is average, but I don't want to touch it again until hardened and the light was behind it...

    Australians using retrobike??

RB, I looked into is ages ago (both frames and bikes) and I hit much the same hurdle with shipping cost. However, I know a few that have, so I assume there must be ways and means of doing it cost effectively.

    Specialized stem - early 90's

Colour themes - green with red?

Nice but wrong way around. Would need to be bright orange with blue highlights. Like I said earlier... looking for something "bright" to counter all my other conservative bikes (and my nature!). Eg: 2007 Felt Virtue 2004 Avanti Aggressor 91 Stumpy (no longer SS, now back with...

    Marin 'Team Marin'

Post away dave... Plenty of interest here! The guy I bought it off thought it was a 95... but it is an exact match to the 93 catalogue so I assumed that was that. I mentioned a 96 Hawk Hill I got in orgi condition. I totally forgot it had all Marin Lite parts (including almost new...

OK... lets see some orange/blue bikes for comparison...

    Australians using retrobike??

Sure was Matt. Lovely guy I bought off but turned out there's very little orig. on it and the frame has small dings in the top tube and left chain stay meaning back to raw ChroMo with clear ain't going to cut it. So I'm not going to do a full retore becasue of that and will just do a low...

Colour themes - green with red?

Great stuff! The green on the Clockwork is close to what I was thinking, which is like this 'hothouse green': Keep'm coming... creative juices are starting to flow!

Colour themes - green with red?

Hey gang, Making plans for my 93 Marin Team frame/bike. There is some minor dents to a chain stay and the top tube (not overly structural) so I'm going to paint it (raw chromo with clear originally). I'm thinking something a bit more 'bright' compared to my other black and white bikes...

    Kingsberry skewers plus slingshot wip

Hey Steve, I have a set of 3x AC skewers with faded anodisiing. Your painting yours has given me some ideas! However, I've not tried yet, but how did you remove those little rubber knobs in the nut end of the skewers? Do they just pull out in one piece? Cheers.
