Thank you. I don't know the detail around the 26" vs 650b wheel measurements, but I took some measurements from the frame. The distance between the seatstays is 77mm The axle to seatstay brace measurement is 365mm Hope this helps, if you are considering the use of 650b rims. Al

Advice needed - GT Zaskar?? & Pace RC36, how old?

I thought I'd be able to work it out from the circumference of the downtube but I lost faith in that method.. It was an ancient tape measure and the best figure I could get was 104mm.. Judicious use of Pi got me some random 33.something diameter.. A 31.8 diameter = 100mm circumference, which...

As I don't have a caliper to measure the downtube diameter, could I ask if anyone here knows what the correct size front mech would be for this frame.

Thank you. I reckon the only straight round tubes are the headtube and the seatstay brace. The top tube is virtually triangular as it was drawn to the headtube end, the seat tube is drawn to a multi flat facetted shape as it meets the bottom bracket - you can just about see that on the ( badly...

Not decided what to do with it yet.. The early Avalanches seem to have come with the 'bologna' rigid fork, or maybe Rockshox. I don't think a catalogue specific build is my thing, will keep you in mind if the situation changes. Al

Please may I tap into the collective knowledge base here..? I have the beginnings of a retro build, hopefully. The frame is a GT; the question is, which one? I have a partial serial number, H5A00.. then chain/cassette rub. The forks were an ebay find.. It's what this place does to you :D ...
