Re: Re: Cool. Ill be interested what you make of the stem, I was told they are very heavy and flex a lot. I wanted to fit a compact chain set too but couldn't get a retro one, I don't ride it very often as i'm to busy with work and kids. Alan

Re: seatpost Hi, yeah, there is an aluminum shim inserted into the seat tube but its looks to be part of the frame as I cannot get it out. The original Mike Burrows post is 27.2. I also have a Giant SCR as a winter bike and it has a 30.9 seat tube with a plastic shim and I had issues with it...

Re: So another bit of work done today. Bars and stem on, went with a NOS 3T bar I had and a NOS 3T Status stem. The original adjustable stems where heavy and apparently flexed. Also installed a non branded carbon seatpost as the Mike Burrows wont is just to big for me. Also it very hard to...

    Giant TCR 1 1998

Hi all, Just thought I would start a thread to document my upcoming project. I have managed to get my hands on a 1998 Giant TCR bike that has been converted to a TT bike. My plan is to strip it and rebuild it to the original spec (as much as possible) with a few tweaks. I'm not a big fan of the...

1975 Raleigh Sprint Restore to fixie.

Hi, yeah brake levers are crap and ugly looking, I was trying to do this on a budget and £16 for levers was cheap. The seatpost was all I could find in budget without going to the old steel type. Wheels are cheapo fixie wheels of ebay, Alex DM18 Rims on Quando Hubs. My next build ill spend a...

Thanks guys for the comments. Hi, The brakes are Tektro R359 long drop/nut fitting calipers, unfortunately you have to use caliper levers to make them work correctly and the tektro levers arent that great. Alan

Hi all, Its like Christmas, parts arriving. Got the brakes and proper track nuts today, still waiting on seatpost bolt and cranks. Think ill stick with the black Fizik Arione and black bar tape as I have them floating around the garage. Think my next project will be to restore an old frame...
