Record Sprint RIP, here's to a replacement!

Just thought I'd post a pic of the new frame with my stuff built onto it. Quick 25 mile spin on it today, feels a bit different. Tighter back end, it has oval tubing on the down tube and the seat tube, feels better on the uphills, a bit twitchier on the descents, and a nice springy ride...

Record Sprint RIP, here's to a replacement!

I might try and get the old frame back too. Its pretty dodgy, there is s gap around the lugs, and there is a crack across the headtube. But it might be fix-able, just for now I am happy to have a rideable road bike in a week or so.

Record Sprint RIP, here's to a replacement!

I have had this nice old Raleigh Record Sprint as my winter/touring bike, and although much of it has been upgraded with Campag/105 stuff it has served me well as a frame. Until today, that is. Set off on a social ride with my local Club, and within a mile or so of setting off came to a...

NBD (New Bike Day) Raleigh Record Sprint

Oh, yeah its a big bike alright, but I still have to have the saddle higher than in the pic. I'm 6' 1" so this bike just fits me, but feels really nice too. Its going to clock up some miles......;-)

    Early Saracen Lovers Anonymous......

I had a Tuff Trax in the mid/late 80s. Remember U barkes? Under the chainstays? Superb stopping power!!! Appalling mud clogging properties though. U brakes disappeared yet they would have been great on tourers and tandems. Road bikes too even. On MTBs though they were a disaster, but us...

OMFG another UPDATE (3) Muddy Fox Courier 1988 in da Purtle

Re: OMFG another UPDATE (3) Muddy Fox Courier 1988 in da Pur I had an earlier one, when they were all pearl white. Mine had Dia Compe brakes and gears, and was a great bike at the time (1986). Wore mine out and traded it for a Saracen TuffTrax at the time too. The early days of MTB'ing eh...

NBD (New Bike Day) Raleigh Record Sprint

NBD??? Do you use this phrase? We in the guitar playing community use NGD all the time, so I figured I would paraphrase it with my new bike acquisition So here it is, nicely set up by the local bike shop I bought it from. An upgraded Raleigh Record Sprint. This one has already been...

    Replacement Alloy Compact Chainset

I am in Skipton, so I have a couple of good bike shops here. Where I live we have some pretty serious hills, even getting out of Skipton some directions its a few steep ones. Currently I ride a bike with a Nexus 7 and the low winch in that gets me up most things. Bike currently has a 52/42...

    Replacement Alloy Compact Chainset

Oh I am resigned to replacing the crankset. If this bike can take a triple that opens up a few more options, just the shop I am getting it from told me that would be tricky with the BB/Front mech, which is a Campag Athena I think. Hey, if I can put a triple on this bike, I'm a happy camper!!

    Replacement Alloy Compact Chainset

I have just picked up a nice old Raleigh Record Sprint frame kitted out with some nice equipment like Shimano 105 brakes and chainset and Campag gears and levers. Very nice and it will be in my possession soon, but I live in the Yorkshire Dale and want to get up most, if not all of the hills. I...
