Right, I spent a few hours yesterday polishing the brake levers and putting some new cork tape on the bars. I was going to wrap them in cotton then varnish them but I went for the cork in the end as I intend to ride the bike and I get hand pain quite a bit. I think the finished result looks...

after starting to lose the will to live searching for the right bike to restore & ride I bumped into an 1981 Peugeot Du Monde on ebay that seemed a good purchase. I'm not that fussed on the credibility of the tubing or the high end finishing kit as the bike is going to get well used, hopefully...

as a long time MTBer who's turned to the dark side of skinny wheels (so I'm told by my mates) I can relate to the hand wrist pain. The simple fact for me turned out to be I needed to man up and ride more. My hand/wrists eventually got used to it and now I can flick between flat bar and drops...

:) its an acquired taste....lol I know what you mean about the miseries though. some take it very seriously....and lacking in joy.

Depends what your training for. If your going to race others on a light bike and you can put in some miles on a heavier bike during training, then within reason it should help. I know I ride a budget tourer most days to work and when I jump on a lighter road bike I deal with the inclines much...
