Damn NICE! The only thing that could send it over the top, is some red or white Benotto bar tape. Outstanding job! My 79 Trek 510 is made from .022, very nice springy/lively tubing. I bet it rides like a cloud? Oh and .022 decals? Ask and ye shall receive! Hopefully they didn't change the decal...

Nope, far from it. We're all into vintage bikes here.;-)

    Sending downtube shifters to hades

I was mostly going by personal experience. I have probably found, rebuilt, owned or sold close to 200 bikes in the last 8-9 years, and that's not an exaggeration. There were times when I was finding 2-3 bikes a week. The road bikes I have found that are Shimano six speed are many. The ones that...

    Sending downtube shifters to hades

STI stands for Shimano Total Integration, this means brakes and shifters mounted together as a single unit, IE integrated. Indexed downtube shifters are indexed downtube shifters. STI for a road bike at least, means you are shifting and braking in the same place. Now SIS, is correct for indexed...

    Sending downtube shifters to hades

Hmmm, I do not recognize those shifters, after checking out your pics. Never seen any with that much of a curl back. Yeah I would get some of the Shimano DT adjusters(modified if need be), and a set of Suntour bar cons. Nice looking bike, I can honestly say I have NEVER seen that model! If those...

How many lives do you need out on the bike these days??!

Sounds like a normal day in Houston, Texas. I once had a redneck in a pickup truck pass me without so much as moving over a foot, nearly hitting me with his oversized mirror, I made a hand gesture as if to say "what the hell", nothing obscene at all! Well, Mr. Redneck pulls into the next...

    Sending downtube shifters to hades

The proprietary mounts, which I believe both 600 and Golden Arrow shared during those years. The Shimano bolt on downtube adjusters will have to be filed or machined out, to clear that notch in the front. If you do it carefully, it will look like a factory piece.

    Sending downtube shifters to hades

Best way is to just ride the thing, and a in a week or two it becomes second nature. You will find yourself shifting less, and putting out a little more effort instead of reaching down every time. I imagine it could be a pain in the nether regions in a very hilly area, of course. With that...

    1973 Flandria

Color me impressed, and a little jealous. Looks amazing, and I am glad you found a powdercoater that knows the deal. Nice crisp lug edges! Most of the ones around here seem to forget you actually have to bolt things TO the frame, instead of just hanging it on the wall. So thick you can't make...

    Local craigslist ad. NOT mine!

A local craigslist ad for a Cannondale "touring" bike. Besides NOT being a touring bike, it wins the award for the most ridiculous handlebar setup I have ever seen. Enjoy it, while it is still up. :xmas-big-grin: I can only imagine the "home protection" he is wanting in trade, most...

    Work bikes

My newest work bike. Threw a rack on it yesterday evening, and road it home today. Some idiot ripped our outside A/C units apart for the copper, and then LEFT IT!!!? So no A/C and temps in the 90's spells misery all day if I ride there. RIding home is good enough for me, until the temps start...

Mystery chrome CW Racing, possible Voris Dixon built?

Awesome!! Love the earlier BMXish cruisers! The Wald stem would go immediately though, If I was the one buying it. Weak point of the whole bike in my opinion.

Mystery chrome CW Racing, possible Voris Dixon built?

Or so a heavier person can ride it, with more than just plate steel holding the wheel, lol! But yes, a LOT of manufacturers do that these days, with derailleurs, brakes, etc. BTW: The Doofenshmirtz rap song was the funniest thing I've ever seen.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXZM5bxoccc

Mystery chrome CW Racing, possible Voris Dixon built?

Well, threw on the only set of BMX bars I had, and it clicked. I do believe this is a BMX bike for a large adult. It looks more correct than it did with bullmoose bars, that's for sure. I like it, and will be building this way, with a 1x 5 drivetrain, and early Dura ace cranks with a single...

Mystery chrome CW Racing, possible Voris Dixon built?

The fork didn't come with the frame unfortunately, it's a recent repop. Even the guys at Mombat were puzzled, but they did say to contact them first if I ever plan to sell it. That's as much validation as I could ever want. Wait a second??? Could the down slant on the top tube be to make a...

Mystery chrome CW Racing, possible Voris Dixon built?

Yes, but an old school VDC sticker is on the seat tube, and he built for for other brands as well. Not to mention not "everything he built" was tubing pierced, at least not the early stuff for other companies.

Mystery chrome CW Racing, possible Voris Dixon built?

Yeah it's one of those bikes that leaves you scratching your head, because it shouldn't exist. Yet there it is staring back at you. I saw it, and had to have it. My buddy had bought it off of ebay a year or so ago, but the frame was too big for him.

Mystery chrome CW Racing, possible Voris Dixon built?

This is one of the earliest mountain bikes I've ever seen or owned. No brake mounts, so probably meant for sidepull calipers, or hub brakes possibly? Has a VDC sticker on it, and a CW head tube decal. Serial number is MT09, so low production and possibly a test or prototype frame? I know I have...
