Is it me or are there less people taking up Mountain Biking?

I get that. Been round the block and tried all the bikes, styles , suspension travels and sub genres. I`ve tried nearly it all and when it comes to down to it, the truth is this. I`m now in spite of my years of enthusiasm, stuck in the past. I`m back to where I was in the 90s with a Steel...

I have to agree with the above from fjpshaw, which obviously affects marketing. I just think it`s peaked. Be interesting to hear from a shop owners perspective.

Re: Re: Now that you mention it. I did see see two kitted out roadies today.

Is it me or are there less people taking up Mountain Biking?

Like a lot of people on here I`ve seen most stuff come and go but recently, ie; the last year or so there have been less new mountain biking `enthusiasts` being noticed. When I was riding rigid steel bikes in 1992 there wasn`t the en mass MTB community there is now. It was done mostly for the...

Just built a 29'er. Will I ever ride on 26" wheels again?

Give it a year or two and it`ll be a 30er or a 28 and a halfer. Anything to keep selling stuff. Rode one 29er. Felt like an `offroad racer` but not unpleasant. Fast enough but a bit gangly at times. The opposite you`d feel when jumping onto a BMX. If you like it, ride it. They`re all bikes.

    PAUL rear mech (Rasta)

Make sense mate but I have no idea what to ask. There`s two for sale at the minute. Both way over £300  . Lunacy as far as I`m concerned. :!:

KHS Ti frame and Pace RC31s'

I remember reading the magazine review for this bike way back in the 90s. GOt a good write up and was affordable in comparison to other Ti offerings. If i remember rightly the frame was £699 and it was considered a `bargain` compared to the merlins and Fat Ti of the day that kinda ruled the...

    Coyote HT3 query

Its definately not 27.2 as I`ve tried that first. I suspect a 26.8 or 27 but need clarification. Nice attempt though :D Would like an old XTR post to fit but I`ll have to wait to see what the diameter is

Any of you guys know the seat post diameter of the old HT3? I`m building one up and a size would be handy. I must have every size spare bar the one i need

1997 Ibis Ailib w/ Moron tubing

Re: Ride on I was/am pleasantly surprised as to how comfortable it is on long epics. I`ve done 58 miles in the saddle in one go recently and it was as good as ANY hardtail I`ve had. I had reservations about the top tube length (or lack of it) too but, no, its a great bike to pilot...

Ibis X wing fighter , maiden voyage tomorrow

For anyone thats reading, it needs a front brake. Maybe stick a V on and junk the disc. But by christ, its fast. Stiff and a wee bittu harsh but speed is definately this bikes forte. I`m going to order a new fork. I know is not maybe the done thing but there`s only so much retro stuff I can...

    Non retro GT Q

Nonn retro, ooooooooooooh the devil. If you`re stuck take your frame or whole bike or whatever into one of the major household decorating/paint stores and they`ll scan it and sell you a small tester pot of gloss. Not ideal but does the job.

Things I have an irrational/unfounded dislike of...

......hmmm, geeks that obsess over trivial details that, really for all their worth make no difference. (tin hat on for that one  ) . Oh and neglected bikes in piss poor condition but still in regular use.

Ibis X wing fighter , maiden voyage tomorrow

Nah, I know its 80mm but I`ll be replacing that old one with another lighter 100mm fork. It`ll handle fine. A bit of sag...........

Ibis X wing fighter , maiden voyage tomorrow

I know it`s not 100% retro BUT in a quick test run it feels `right`. Still needing fine tuning (lighter fork and a new front disc ) but 95% there and rideable. Some of the spec will have some of you guys throwing up  BUT hey! I had a Capri with discs all round and a 2.9 V6 from a Sierra...
