    Where do your loyalties lie?

My '96 Muni-Mula was the first "big" purchase I made. I was 14, I think, and I was so proud of that bike but i've sinced revived it as a "dinglespeed" I toyed w/ the idea of selling it but I think it'll stay with me for a while. Or, it's possible that I put the gears back on and give it to...

The one and only "HOW MUCH IS MY xyz WORTH" thread

Klein Attitude, 22" frameset w/ long (130-150) MC1-black. For insurance purposes mostly, but if in the event that I need cash quickly i'd like to have an idea of what my frameset is worth. It's in good, but not great, condition. The paint is still glossy but there might be a hint of...

the most frustrating thing about retro bikes

Most frustrating thing is worrying about breaking 'em. I'm almost afraid to ride my Attitude because the paint is in great condition (cept for the chainsuck damage)...

    who owns their dream bike(s)?

I never really had a "dream bike" growing up (keep in mind i'm only 25 now) but I do remember thinking Kleins were really cool and now I have one (even though it's a two-tone front/back rather than linear fade). I recently saw a picture of a Scott carbon e-stay bike on mtbr and remember...

    early 90's KHS Montana Descent

Not sure if I ever posted updated shots of this whip. The bike was a mess when I got it, and it has a sticker on the stem I can't get off but it rides nicely as is. I need to replace the BB and headset this winter so she's been put away and awaiting surgery. Here she is: Note: The...

    '96 Kona dinglespeed

Re: bottom bracket removal I didn't remove the BB although it requires a Shimano cartridge bb tool like this: As for the crankset it requires a crank puller like this: Both tools are fairly inexpensive and easy to use. Park Tools has a great "how-to" section. As for the bike it...

    '96 Kona dinglespeed

It's a different fork. I swapped an EFC for the current Q21R. The biggest difference is that the current fork has the legs bolted into the crown where the old one was pressed (my guess). Are there a lot of bolt-on Q21R's out there?

    '96 Kona dinglespeed

I really like the look of that although i'm really cheap so the old mech will have to work for now. Or, you could dig up a vintage, short-cage something interesting!

    '96 Kona dinglespeed

I left off the front mech and I don't have any desire to put it back on. As with a previous poster my "home" trail is about 5 miles away so spinning at 100 rpm but traveling at 15 kph isn't terribly intriguing to me. The disadvantage to my setup is having the rear mech attached, having two...

    '96 Kona dinglespeed

This is what it looked like last summer: This is what it looked like this morning: It sat in my basement w/a bent rear wheel for a year until I bought a new wheel and dingled it (sounds dirty) over the past few weeks. It seems to be equal parts utilitarian, ghetto, and totally...
