Re: no offence, but s-five is a spesh oem wheelset, has nothing in common with regular racing5-s. a much simpler construction with incredibly unreliable freehub and bearing design.. not worth much imho. only the rims are useable, but the hubs are very poor

Re: Wheel sets clearout:Campag; Dura Ace; Mavic; RX100 for the veloce 9spd rear hub, I'd include a lockring, as, it has different size as to today's campy standard. It will require a 26mm id lockring, as opposed to 27mm.

very tasty build. I'd definitely aim for a similar bike as an all-rounder.

Re: I believe the rear derailleur is veloce, the chainset is probably athena, and, the brake-shift levers are definitely veloces from 1994. :)

Just for those who don't speak that language above :) I recall this bike from classifieds advertised with 9spd mirage gruppo, but the seller actually made some significant changes. Chainset, ergopowers, brakes, tyres, handlebars and stem have been upgraded. But the frame-saddle-seatpost...

any chance of getting it out of the UK? .... :( that price

Re: great price and nice condition, BUT if you decide to split, make sure you include the LOCKRING with the HUB, and not the cassette :) Beacuse this 26mm lockring for early 9-10-11spd hubs is a rare find, and back in those days, campag were giving the locrking with their hubs :xmas-wink:

Matt: I believe you, but keep in mind, that shifting is generally tolerates "Overshift" better than "not enough travel". That's why seven speed shifters generally work well with 8speed cassettes, but not vice-versa, and that's why campy11 or campy9-10 can shift nicely with sh cassettes as well...
