    Lemond TSX "Z Team Replica"

Re: I've used this to fill dents in tubes - that was pre-paint though. Your colour matching would become quite a job. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvVvVMnitAM

Re: Cheers Cooker. I'm going to strip the seatpost and get it polished, so all silver. bartape needs to be spoiled and dirtied then I'll get it altered to plain white. Saddle is staying though, unless I can find a white flite. I have a white regal on my Mercian and i'm not overly keen on...

    80's single speed hubs

Re: I use a Token Chromo freewheel so I'll swap that over once i've sourced hubs etc. Leaning towards Dura Ace hubs to be honest - want actual track hubs rather than modding road hubs. Then a frame re-spray etc. Winter project me thinks.

    80's single speed hubs

Re: Hi Mike, Well that is an eye-opener. This is stating then that a freewheel can be installed as standard onto the fixed side of a (in modern parlance) a flip-flop hub? Or even better onto track-hubs (How good would sherriff-stars be!) How is this not common knowledge! Based on this the...

    80's single speed hubs

Re: Yep, single speed, not fixed. Not sure such a things exists as far as 80's hubs go? For a track frame anyway.

    80's single speed hubs

The wheels on my track bike have started to show signs of failure - sealed Gipiemme hub affairs. I'd like to go a little more period with some replacements (whether authentic age or at least in looks). 120mm solid axle, but needs to be single speed rather than fixed wheel. Any suggestions?

Re: I may just do that, although I thought Bottecchia was a completely different company these days? Didn't the original go belly up? I'm sure i've watched one of the Italian Masters programmes on the bike channel talking about the failure of the company post Lemond. Mine's a bit on the...

Re: ah, fair do's - I thought you may have deciphered the number on the frame as a reference to year of construction. obviously not as you've owned for many a moon! I'd love to see these bikes being raced in anger again.

Re: Of all the things - a white plastic bag! a very cunning plan - works very well. Ah yes, the catalogue cover - I deliberately avoided going down that road as you've already done it. Can I ask; how have determined that yours is a 1991 frame?

Re: Cheers DD - indeed, I dodged a bullet with the rust on the chrome - tinfoil & water did the trick apart from a few small isolated areas - you can only see the dodgy bits if you look closely. I've touched the red up in places as well. I tried a regal, looks too fat on the skinny seatpost -...

Re: Cheers Bigfoz :) Pedals are an interesting concept and I quite like them, sort of feel like normal pedals but I can feel a difference in the travel across the pedal. However I'm going to swap them over to some Look PP56's - too much hassle having one pair of shoes dedicated to black...

    Abandoned Harry Quinn

Re: A 'real' Quinn will have the frame stamped on the underside of the BB shell. A Walton Road built Quinn will have a Q**** number where the Q is made up of a 0 with 1 struck through it to create the Q.

It's 53 c-c & 53 c-t - nice short wheelbase which is how I like my bikes. First 'proper' ride completed, 60 miles and it didn't miss a beat (performed better than it's rider  ). Bike got plenty of eyes cast over it at the cafe. DT levers are epic, shifting is rapid. Can also recommend...
