    Rondinella project

Thanks for the advice all. Had a slight positive development today.... I was out today and found these hanging up in the corner of my LBS. figured they're about the right size. the guy wanted £8 for them, which seemed a bargain to me. Any idea where these bars sat in the old Cinelli lineup...

    Rondinella project

Thanks for your responses. Given the hit-n-miss (quality/lemon) on eBay, I'll probably use someone like Hilary Stone. Great article about bar sizes- looks like it makes a massive difference, but the right width/reach/drop will take some sussing out. One simple question: the groves in the bars...

    Rondinella project

Evening all, After my wife's (aluminium) 2004 bianchi developed a crack in its head tube, and the manufacturers weren't interested, I took all the components off (bar the cranks as they'd seized) and dumped the frame. Fed up with Unrepairable aluminium I started looking for an old steel frame...

    Old Raleigh

Gears!?!!!! I have a Cannondale R800, which whilst fine is bearing the brunt of the daily commute (85m a week), and it's gears are no exception  So I want a winter commuter as hassle free as possible. Also, several mates rave about fixies, so I thought I'd give it a go. Anyhow, does...

    Old Raleigh

Thanks for the kind responses. I managed a couple of hours work yesterday. Still have to get a shorter stem and put the bar tape on. And get a lockring. Here's some photos of it almost done: Bars are old Raleigh. Brakes Tektro: RL340 levers and R559 dual pivots - needed the long reach...

    Old Raleigh

Evening all, I'm in the process of converting an old Raleigh into a fixie for commuting. After having some Qs answered on here it would appear that my frame was a nothing special "gas pipe" machine, with numerous oddities: chain stay bridge and bolt hole for kickstand; weird brake stay...

    Help identifying Raleigh bike

First, VMT for all the replies- much appreciated. Right, the "hole" here's a closer photo of it, kickstand bracket to right. It looks like a dedicated hole, for what I don't know. maybe something to do with a kickstand? If so, won't be using that then. Got out the trusty calipers...

No, there's not a hole in the chainstay. In the second photo theres a tapped hole on the left diagonal (between seatpost and chainstay) I've no idea what for.

Not sure about the green and red (its a rubbish powder coat, but will suffice for a while) id rather a metallic green (with gold Raleigh stencils). The wheels will be silver, along with the seatpost and bars. "honey" B17 saddle too. The brake housing clips are missing from the top tube. Are...

    Help identifying Raleigh bike

Hello, I have recently acquired what I was told was an old Raleigh of unknown age and model. I intend to restore the frame to original colour and use as As a fixie. It's shown here with old Wheels off my cannondale. The number stamped below the seat tube is: NN4166894 I...
