    Nishiki Cresta GT

<sic> I can't get Interlock Freewheel because they won't ship outside US :( </sic> Well that's pretty lame of them. Sorry for the misdirection, didn't realize. <sic> 7 speed just worked for me in my own mind. </sic> Fair enough. The Panasonic I've been riding is 6 speed friction and I'm...

    Nishiki Cresta GT

About 10 years ago I had a Nishiki Cresta GT. I think it was just a little newer than yours though because it was a 6 speed with biopace chainrings. I still kick myself over that bike. I didn't even sell it, I gave it away. What I wouldn't give for the gold anodized 27" wheelset that was on it...

    27 inch fenders

Thanks to you all for the replies and sorry for the delay in response. Because this was a budget build I didn't want to drop 70 smackers and find out that it wouldn't work. I shall proceed with no fear. BTW Spokesmann, beautiful ride! Only a Brooks can be comfortable with the nose up (though...

    27 inch fenders

I just rebuilt a Panasonic PT-3500 as my commuter and it needs fenders. I'm leaning towards the SKS Longboards but I concerned whether they will fit with the 27x1 1/4" tires I have mounted on it. I realize I'm being a square peg but I like the 27 inchers. Any advice? Are vintage fenders my best...

    rescued trek 930

if I were to patch it, I would have brazed a piece of steel over the affected area rather than just filling the holes, but as I said, I don't know how bad the rest of the frame is. Fortunately the rear wheel has a freewheel (no rusty pawls inside the hub) so I got a pretty decent (and...

    rescued trek 930

mission aborted So I stripped the frame of parts and hit it with some framesaver. After a few minutes i noticed some bubbling in the paint on the drive side chain stay so i scraped of the paint and found a number of small holes there. My guess is that, not only did this bike get wet and gunky...

    rescued trek 930

I'm not the single speed type. I'm sure it's fun on single track but i don't drive so it would be murder getting to the trailhead. As for drops... i was planning on using moustache bars and barends for the rebuild.

    rescued trek 930

Hi all, I just rescued a 1994 Trek 930 from a dumpster in the aftermath of Sandy from the shoreline of Connecticut. From the looks of it it also went through Irene. I've since brought it home, cleaned it, and stripped it to a bare frame and will frame saver it later this week after it dries...
