My experience of this compares me, a 20 year old average fitness but skilled rider on a 94 marin bear valley vs a work colleague of equal fitness less skill and on a full sus marin. when riding into stream his easily adjusted seat post height, front suspension and wider bars means he drops in...

I use a 10 speed mech on a 9 speed cassette fine...... 105 mech and deore shifter

I had a Raleigh pursuit (road bike) and that was far more fun to ride than my carbon/alloy modern road bike. I would definitely get another! So fully respect you for your decisions! Good of you, keep it going :D

I also have a Marin bear valley, abilt built very differently. What is that mud guard? I want one!
