    Harry Hall

I would agree with that assessment. Either that or it was bought new post 1987. Harry Hall's was based on hanging ditch then and had a big cellar. It was there they did the 'January sale clear outs' and get rid of all the old stock 531' race bikes with 15-25% discounts.

    Cinelli SLX

It was done by a german guy in spain when I had it re-sprayed it in 2004. He usually sprayed Harley Davidson motorbikes but took this on as a challenge. The lugs were indeed chrome but I was told required too much work as they were pitted and would have looked tarnished against the new paint...

    1992 Rocky Mountain Cirrus

Yes but us British lads get everywhere. Scandinavia, Canada, Afghanistan, You name it!

    1992 Rocky Mountain Cirrus

Really cool bike mate! Obviously a pride and joy. Loving the colours and your obsession with British hijackers.

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

Thanks for all your help and advice folks. I feel a part of this retro family already, I only joined the other day bit wet behind the ears yet. When I say dump I mean in a box in the garage. When I have time i'll get into maybe advertising some old parts or exchange them, whatever really. Will...

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

I painted it. Never cut it. aha, NOW I realise what the fuss is about. The post is worth more than the bike right? Anyway off to change the saddle for an original and readjust it.

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

yep you're probably right. I was just excited to find a thread that still cares about these bikes. Syncros forks eh? What do they weigh roughly? Condition?

Hijacking a thread he'd forgotten existed? I fail to follow.

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

I have seen and 'love' those original Syncros forks though, they look sublime, much more elegant than Rock Shox.

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

Thanks for that mate in that case it's getting dumped too. Honestly the state of this bike when I got it was shocking. Instead of upgrading the spec over time it had been downgraded to LX and a load of old rusty rubbish. Maybe the seatpost isn't original I don't know, I'm no expert but I do know...

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

Not a close up i'm afraid. It was blue/grey and had SV in capital letters going down the front. These decals had been removed at a later date as I can see the fade in paint colour. It has a hole at the bottom about 20mm in diameter if that helps? Also having now seen the original syncros logo...

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

No mate they're O/S black Ritchey headset locking nuts I had from an old project. I sprayed the original frame cups black as they were turquoise and pretty revolting tbh. If anyone wants the old syncros stem that was on this it's now for sale dirt cheap, It has some rust and has no decals. It's...

    Is the seatpost backwards? :?:

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

I sprayed it but i'd never cut it. There was no syncros decal on it anyway and it was badly scratched and really tatty. There is evidence that there was a decal and it said "SV" Thanks for the seatpost tip. I hadn't seen one before and must have bought it backwards as it went back on the way it...

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

Hi Mossy, Well I bought an old Cirrus in Norway for £50 last week and had no idea at the time what bike it was. The guy just told me it was Rocky Mountain and he paid £2500 for it in Oslo in around 1992. So intrigued I searched t'internet and found this thread. So many thanks for starting it...

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

It seemed to make perfect sense to me to have all the 1991 Cirrus' re-builds together to compare notes and ideas for future readers to cut corners and save time searching. There aren't that many Cirrus' still out there in good condition. Just thought that we should all stick together. :lol...

    Harry Hall

I worked at Harry Hall's around that period. He gradually phased Reynolds 531 in around 1989/90 and only sold them as touring frames with pannier eyelets. All the race frames went over to Columbus slx. I would say this is a 1981-1986 model as the bottom bracket gear braze-ons are external and...

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

Glad you like it! - I like black frames and realise it's not a standard colour for Rocky Mountain' bikes. I doubt any of their employees from 20 years ago remember what colours were used in given years, so they'll have to catch me on it! I've started re-building it now and it's looking hard...

    Cinelli SLX

Here's a picture of a recently restored 1990 Cinelli Supercorsa - Columbus SLX tubing. I added Pepper bars with an Ant stem with cinelli aero-levers. The 7000 aluminium forks have taken off over 750 grams and have made a huge difference to the handling. The steering is now the sharpest thing on...

1991 Rocky Mountain Cirrus **New project** Update 10.10.2011

Sprayed black yesterday and now awaiting the fresh RM decals in white. I've read this thread and would like to say my model has a 30.4mm seat tube. I'm not going for the full retro-look. I'd like to modernise it to get the weight down as much as possible and get rid of the more heavier 90's...
