    92 Marin Bear Valley colours

Having identified the original colours of my old BV (Gloss black rear end, the rest satin black) and also having obtained a superb set of decals via Gil_M, my dillema now is how to recreate this and protect the decals, as the originals were gone within a couple of years! Is there such a thing as...

92 Bear Valley SE Bottom Bracket

Guys, I've just removed the BB from my old Marin... It's kind of a cartridge type but with what seems to be some adjustment on the non drive side, also the plastic cup is on the drive side which seems a bit odd. It's a shimano BB-CS20, spindle length is 123mm and seems to be symmetrically...

92 Marin Bear Valley SE colours

Thanks for the headset tip Rich! Daugs, you're right about the colours, now I've got it stripped and washed I can see that those areas on the Eldridge that are satin black are also satin black on the BV and similarly gloss red to gloss black. There's a beautiful sample of the satin black on the...

92 Marin Bear Valley SE colours

Hey Marc Two Tone, thanks for the headset link, I know this may sound ignorant but how do I tell If I need a 1" or a 1 1/8" headset? The fork tube internal diameter is 1", ie. it takes a 1" quill stem but the outside diameter (Threaded section) is about 1 1/8"! thanks in advance..

92 Marin Bear Valley SE colours

Thanks for the reply, so, was it a satin finish all over? That would be my recollection. This has been an awesome bike, I can't put my finger on it but I built a hack bike to ride in the meantime, retro of course but with LX, DX & XT components, nice but having a last ride on the Marin...

92 Marin Bear Valley SE colours

Hi all, getting close to painting my 92 Bear Valley SE. Does anyone know the original colour scheme? From memory it was kind of satin black with maybe the front fork being gloss. Certainly not the matt grey of some BV's. Sadly the frame is so faded etc it's difficult to tell but kind of looks...

Hi all, does anyone know of a source for early 90's type MTB gumwalls? I believe my 92 Bear Valley SE had Rockstar 26 x 2.0 gumwalls but anything that looks similar would be good. Thanks - Mark, Perth, WA

    Marin Bear Valley, early 90's?

Hi all, can anyone date my Bear Valley? My brother gave it to me late 90's, used it on and off since then, took it to Australia. I changed the steering stem because I couldn't get comfortable with the original, also replaced the pedals. This bike has just spent a Perth (WA) winter outside...
