help needed with Mystery Columbus frame.

Well... Just over a year on(!) Here's the more or less finished article built up and rideable. Unfortunately, though, I still have no idea what frame this is, so what decals ought to go on here remains to be seen! It has a 105 groupset on it currently with a campy front-derailleur; eventually...

I've managed to ID the lugs after much searching, they seem to be Cinelli CS lugs.http://classicrendezvous.com/Italy/Cinelli/cinelli_cs_lugs.htm. ...And there seems to be very little information on them online. Can't seem to find out what frames would have used them or at what period they were...

used my googling ability to determine the seat/chainstay ends are not domed... however there is no sign of any columbus markings on the tubes, maybe lost in the paint stripping/sanding? brazing on the bb cable guides appears original and as its italian bb I doubt it is raleigh... so, still none...

Cheers for info guys, will have a look for any marking on the frame tubing. It's difficult to make out much because of the pitting and I've already done some pretty heavy sanding to get rid of surface rust. 'scuse my ignorance but what do you mean by 'domed'?

Some helpful if confusing stuff in that link, google translate aint bad but they don't seem to have dutch down just yet . I'm now almost 100% certain it is all columbus; spotted a bird nestling on the fork steerer after a little more paint removal. I tried a 27.2 post in it - tad...

Nope, fork and bridge aren't drilled for a recessed bolt. Also had a better look at the serial on bb, seems to be "597 6" - with the space. Not sure if it's intended to be like that or the 6 wasn't lined up with the rest when it was punched on.

Cheers for the help, got a few shots of the lugs after paint removal. Bit easier to see them after being rid of the inch thick coating of paint...

help needed with Mystery Columbus frame.

Ah, later than I thought then, I guessed from the brake calipers it might be early 70's. Been trawling through archived shots of various italian bikes from the period without any luck for the past few hours... I'll carry on!

It is, shoddily applied after a bad respray. I'm pretty sure its early 70s italian just don't know what exactly. Found some more detail whilst stripping paint off: GPM BREV No 168690 stamped on the rear brake bridge. Gipiemme I guess?

help needed with Mystery Columbus frame.

Hello! I purchased this frame pretty cheap from ebay. It appears to be a columbus frame and forks which according to the seller originally had campag parts on it (apart from the brake calipers). S/N on BB is: 5971 (i think). Dropout are columbus and there were faded remains of a...

    USERNAMES!!!

Inspired by a mate who adopted a very broad Sheffield accent shortly after moving there. We took the mick out of him and at some drunken, hazy, distant point it became amalgamated with the 'Yogi Bear Show'... so there you have it.
