    Would you ride 150mm cranks?

I've found that shorter cranks work well for sitting and spinning, whereas longer cranks feel better for standing while riding where torque is more important. I run 180's on my singlespeed, 175's on my gravel/mountain bikes, 172.5 on classic road bikes. This is my personal experience. I know...

Best Marin steel frame from the 90's is?

I'll put my vote in for a 1991 Team Issue. Teesdale made with Prestige tubing. Short and unique chainstays, great handling bike. Tom mentioned that he made 32-38 total that year.

    Show us your Brodie

Here is my lovely 1988 Romax with Bontrager forks. Not 100% period correct build but it works for me. Rides lovely.

    Why Catalogue Spec?

Re: I prefer to build a catalog spec when possible, or at least period correct. As mentioned previously very few new bikes left the shop without some modification (tires, stem, saddle, whatever) so a true factory original spec is a very rare thing, especially with older higher end mt bikes...

    Dia-Compe DC980

Found these brakes last week in town and haven't been able to find much information on-line about them. Has anybody seen a set of these brakes? Arms are alloy, pads are Dia-Compe. They do function but the quality doesn't appear to be great, or at least on par with the Dia-Compe brakes i'm...

c1988 Gecko Y File It - More California Steel

Re: Finally a Gecko build! Known for beautiful fillet welds and amazing paint, and being nearly impossible to locate, sort of a Off-Road-Toad for southerners.

Most paid for that illusive part?

Re: For me it would be a early Bontrager fillet brazed U-brake fork. Exact $ escapes me, certainly above $500 US. Expensive, but worth every penny to me.

    Retro GT on EWS course?!

Re: Fun video. A bit if a shame that they chose a lower end spec'd, upright riding position bike with semi-slicks for the run. A FRO (and many others) would be far more capable given the longer wheelbase and smoother riding frameset, not to mention better brakes, tires, etc. Still, I...

    Intesphere Tiger Racer

Re: Here is a photo of the bike as I found it locally, at a antique store labeled as a French bike. I was excited to see how original and complete the bike was, but as I started to work on the rebuild all the issues became apparent. In the end I had to replace many spokes and retrue the...

    Intesphere Tiger Racer

Re: Thanks, it's been a fun and challenging project. I'm guessing German because of the wheels/hubs, rear is a coaster brake Torpedo front is German as well. I think they are dated 1954, so i'm guessing W. Ger? On-line research has only turned up another Intesphere, a 5 person? Really not...

    Intesphere Tiger Racer

Just posting some images of my latest build, a early 50's German made Intesphere Tiger Racer. I kept as many original parts as possible, unfortunately the forks were bent so I had to dig out a Mercian fork which ride fantastic. Should work well for bar hopping/alley racing.
