    Salmond v Darling debate: STV

Re: A big point by AS was that he wanted Independence because Scotland never got the Government it voted for, good point, un-democratic, but a good point. The SNP has been a minority Government! I put this to Richard Lockhead, Cabinet Secretary at Holyrood: "After Independence, if Shetland...

Angus Cycling Festival - RetroBIKE Stand

I could let loose the 'Bontrager Experimental' for the weekend. It would be an opportunity to see first hand how KB combined multi materials in a single frame. This was his own bike for 16 years or so and was used as a testbed for components he designed. If you think there may be any enthusiasm...

    Internal top tube routing.

Re: Three solutions - all work. Key? Very stiff/ strong to very thin ratio Heavy fishing line- then Hoover Waxed thread- then Hoover 1mm/1.5mm welding/brazing rod, can be shaped, make Tbar shape on the end to enable twisting/positioning, this is a permanent tool for the job.

    Forks for P7

I have a mint condition P7 frame from around 2007 but I would like to fit original rigid forks. It originally was fitted with Fox 140 mm. Can I fit rigid and do any members have forks for sale?

Bontrager Road Lite - Original or Modern

Re: The reason I asked this question in the ATB/MTB section is very simple but dual aspect. Firstly, the members and readers of this site have, in my humble opinion, a deeper understanding of the place that Bontrager bikes have in the history of cycling and the emotions they evoke. The same...

Bontrager Road Lite - Original or Modern

Re: Many thanks for your thoughts/advice/counsel. The link to 'keithb' and his Bonty was interesting, a demonstration in the ability of Bontrager frames to continue to evolve/morph to fit the caretakers (nobody really 'owns' a bike) needs. Constant reincarnation! Carl your point about...

Bontrager Road Lite - Original or Modern

At the risk of being burned at the stake, I would like to pose . . . . I recently added a Road Lite to my 'Shed' of bikes, absolutely mint, absolutely original. It is the best Road bike I have ever ridden! by a long way. The question I pose "How good could it be?" I have sitting on the wall a...

(1984-2014) 30 years of UK mountain biking.

Re: I am grateful for pic of Roberts. Beautiful bike, Roberts' place in the evolution of ATB's is assured of legendary status. Your bike is more sophisticated than the more agricultural appearance of the Renegade. Can you confirm the angle of the top tube? How far from horizontal does it...

Re: What a thread! Could I see a photo of your 1984 Roberts? I have an 84 Roberts Commissioned and Designed (in part) by 'ON yer Bike, London Bridge. It has level top tube, lugs, and rising angle to the BB, or rise to approx 14.5", above the plane of the axles. Rob at On yer BIke, was unable...

Stuck stem in 1" threaded headset help!

Re: Stems and seatposts stuck, how many times have we heard the stories, the grunting and groaning, fu..ing and farting all to no avail. Believe it or not, here in Blairgowrie we have a LBS that does not believe in greasing any bike, old or new to prevent the seizing of stems and seatposts...
