What could I use to replace the collapsed elastomer on my GT LTS?

Big news - the 50mm x 62mm bumper stopper rubber cylinder I linked to above actually WORKS on my GT LTS-5, and I can now ride it for the first time! Just put it all together, had a quick spin off road, there's a tiny bit of up and down boing at the rear, which is good enough for me. So, mid-90s...

What could I use to replace the collapsed elastomer on my GT LTS?

OK, what about this kind of thing? 50mm x 63mm, so a bit short, but correct diameter I think: https://directcaoutchouc.com/tampons-ressorts-caoutchouc/300-tampon-ressort-cr70-5017x62mm-70sha.html Yes, 'tampon' is the French word for a bumper stopper kinda thingy.

What could I use to replace the collapsed elastomer on my GT LTS?

So the spec would be 50 mm diameter and about 80 mm length, or shorter? Those Polyurethane rods might work quite well. I had been thinking of using two or three car suspension bushings, as you can find them in the right diameter, they have holes in the middle, plus they're lovely and cheap. I...

What could I use to replace the collapsed elastomer on my GT LTS?

Yep, that might work. Does anyone know the approximate length of the original elastomers on these frames?

What could I use to replace the collapsed elastomer on my GT LTS?

I just bought a relatively tidy but unloved GT LTS-5, the motivation being to use its 7-speed parts and wheels on another frame. Now I have it at home, I'm thinking the LTS is not a bad looking bike in GT blue and yellow, and so I'm asking myself if I could I make it rideable for a bit at least...

Gilles Berthoud handmade fillet-brazed racing bike

Re: 225 gbp would be fine, plus postage, unless you want to come and get it! The forks are original to the bike I would think. I forgot to say it had a new bottom bracket last year, so all is smooth in the downstairs department.

    French road bike magazines

Hello - I'm selling some of my collection of French road bike magazines from 1940s to 1970s. They have some super photos on the front, very atmospheric, and are generally in thumbed but good condition. I've had some success framing these mags and hanging them on the wall - certainly better than...

Any events to mark 40 years since 1st Repack?

Re: Got it already, don't worry! Love the level of detail, very early years stories and the Ritchey mentions. Would have liked better pics from the Mammoth, Tomac and Overend era though.

Any events to mark 40 years since 1st Repack?

Hello - has anyone been inspired to organise an anniversary Repack race? The first ever race happened on 21st October 1976. Would be great to hear about any events going on, and to see photos. For what it's worth, I'm planning a trip out on my Ritchey on Saturday 22nd around my home in the...

    Wheelset and square taper cranks

Re: Re: Like it, such an innovative design. Good downhill, but odd uphill I'd imagine- ids that right? Reminds me of a photo the the Descender I saw a very long time ago, although shock was a lot more visible in that.
