    shed cladding advice please.

Re: Requesting an update since I'm in the middle of sorting my own out. What did you do about waterproofing/breather layer in the end?

    Chain Cleaning

Re: Cheap and cheerful copy of the park cleaner for me. It was about £3 on amazon but does the job fine. Blast with muc off degreaser, spin for a couple of minutes in the chain gizmo then a few cycles with a rag. Load of much off ceramic lube applied and left to soak into all the links and...

    Shed security checklist

Re: I was thinking an Almax chain would be a good investment until seeing that £100 squire padlocks they sell with them are still fairly easily cut open. Also for 5+ bikes is it better to opt for one long chain or two shorter ones?

    Shed security checklist

Re: Thanks and was being dimwitted not realising English was the brand. Is this the one you mean... http://www.englishchaindirect.co.uk/pro ... /228/20/6/ I couldn't see the padlock you recommended but the anchor looks good. Just not sure on fitting as my shed is on insanely heavy concrete...

    Shed security checklist

Re: Great advice on here and combined with what I've read on other bike/motorbike forums it is possible to beat the more casual or opportunistic theif with limited skills or tools. 'Professionals' seemingly will go to almost any length including sacrificing the frame to get the parts, bringing...

    Shed security checklist

Re: Great suggestions! So adding to my list: Deadbolt lock instead of hasp. It may need to be an upgraded deadbolt night latch as the doors aren't thick enough for an internal lock. Cctv. Easily done. Board or mesh the windows. Get some L brackets to secure the roof down. Hinges are...

    Shed security checklist

Re: Yep I realise any lock can be cut but my aim is to make it too much hassle to bother especially with a noisy alarm going off. I'm fully insured but it's not just about the money. Any suggestions for securing windows or any chain/anchor recommendations. I've seen almax suggested but are...

    Shed security checklist

I'm in the process of upgrading a 17'x11' shed and am looking for best advice on securing bikes within it. So far my list includes: Decent hasp lock and padlock on the door Big effin chain and ground anchor to go through all the bikes. MA30 alarm I might have to just set the anchors in a...

    Marzocchi Z1 CR 2001

Can anyone give me some pointers on how to do a basic oil service and what is a good replacement oil to use for Marzocchi? I've seen threads saying that different brands vary for any given oil weight. Also that some motorbike oil makes the seals swell. If anything I'd lean to a slightly heavier...

    Hope Big Un Rotors

Re: Re: If you have time that'd be great... The original thought was to get a rotor for the rear Big Un hub, then a brake and adapter since its a non-disc frame but I've since heard that these don't work particularly well so I'm undecided. The front is a hope 'sport' needs a splined spider...

    Hope Big Un Rotors

Does anyone know what bcd/size I'd be looking for? I'm assuming they're so out of date there's nothing around now but would like to at least keep an eye out for one (and a brake to go with it)

Merlin malt- Frame change GT avalanche 1.0

I've got one an old 203m BB7 on a trial bike and it's incredible but can't imagine learning to use it for normal braking, its like an on/off switch! Edit... how did you find the A2Z disc adapter? I'm just thinking about one for another bike. Do you have any pics that show it's fitting?

    Multitools

Another vote for this one - had mine for years. Tiny, solid, comes in a neoprene pouch with a belt loop.

Clever way to store essentials on a ride?

I usually take just the keys I need, a multitool and some cash or a card but with no zipped pockets and a dislike for bike-mounted bags, backpacks and the like I'm wondering if any of you have clever ways to store things...maybe inside the bike somewhere, taped on or something else? Suggestions...

Rust on new bike ( and not a BSO either)

Re: Must be disappointing to see it from new but any uncoated steel will obviously oxidise, especially if stored somewhere cold where condensation can form within the tubes. Use a frame protector spray... http://shop.18bikes.co.uk/products.php? ... 2b3s403p39 Or at very least blast some gt85...

    Show us yer rigids.ooer missus....

Just general bike tomfoolery... I don't actually go out to ride street anymore but I like the idea of one as a low maintenance, summer commuter hack with the seat up that could double up and something more fun.
