Look what i found in me shed

I'm fairly new on here ,but this is a very funny business. I don't know who ed is ,but would it be unreasonable to ask him to explain why he sold this bike on another forum and for hundreds of pounds less than it is worth?

Yes it works. 7 speed Regina block,NOS,plus NOS Campag hubs from someone on here, via E-bay,plus VO polished 700c rims and 700x28 Schwalbe delta cruiser gumwalls fitted to 1983 Raleigh record ace. Chain rubbed slightly at first on end of mech mounting bolt, but slight adjust of stop screw and it...

To paint or not to paint??

I'd have it painted. These bikes were good quality of build but the paint was usually poor. It's not as if they are particularly rare or worth a great deal. As for raw lugs, they'll rust in trice, you have probably seen chrome plated lugs which is possible but very expensive. I'll be repainting my...

Advice of fitting new brakes to old bike pls -bolt length

I'd take this to a LBS for them to have a look. Drilling out the brake hole in your forks may weaken it and on a tandem you wouldn't want the brake making a bid for freedom. There is a tandem specialist called Tandemania who may have special tandem parts to upgrade your machine

Post Re-Chroming: Stem Diameter Problem! Solutions?

If this were mine I would take it back and show them the problem. A reputable ,competent firm would replate it for you back to the correct size. The term "triple plated " is/was used to describe quality chrome plating, this does not mean three coats of chrome but, first copper, then nickel,then...

Older bike sizing compared to modern frames?

Just a note about wheel sizes,27x1 1/8 is 28-630 in ETRTO and a 700x32c is 32-622 in ETRTO,therefore the 27" is larger wheel diameter by 8mm. I have one of each size in front of me now and the 27" tyre is about 15mm larger in OD

    753 Raleigh 1983?

Most of my expierience with Raleighs is of the cheaper ranges, which would have had less complex routing. Yesterday I had a mental blip, the frame number on the RRA is actually WL300027. Can anyone amend my previous post?

    753 Raleigh 1983?

I've got a Raleigh Record Ace with frame number WF300037 a very similar number to yours. It is made from 531c was bought new in 1983 but may be an '82 bike. It has very similar dropouts, but under bracket routing that I have not seen on other frames, It has four cable stops with two short...
