Re: The "pip" is half way down the head tube so I don't think it's for a pump. However, on looking at old photos (see below) it looks like it could be where they fixed the race number plate.

I have a Lemond TSX bike from, I think, 1991. My understanding is that these discontinued frames from the Billato Brothers workshop were sold off to bike shops around that time. My question is can anyone tell me what the little pip on the head tube is for? Also, the cable routes through the top...

I'm after a set of Cro-Mo forks for my 1993 Marin Bear Valley SE. It's a 20.5" frame. Period forks, ie Satin Black colour, would be a huge bonus.

Wanted either Eldridge Grade Pine Mountain Bear Valley SE Steel models from 1993, complete bikes or, at least, frame and forks. Size 20"/20.5"

Can anyone tell me when DA went STI? Was it with the 7400 or 7402 series and, which year? Just trying to get a build as real as poss. Forget it, just spotted the Velobase link which answers my question.
