    Coolwall - Trek OCLV

Not a fan of the Y-bikes, or the newer OCLV HC and later frames, but the early stuff is definitely up there for me. But then, I would say that - I've owned one since '93. My original 9800 was replaced with this one under warranty - not the prettiest of paint schemes, but one of the best handling...

    1988 - Rattlecan Rockhopper

I am loving your work. I have very fond memories of this bike and it's great to see it receiving some much needed tlc. I'll be watching this space and I'll show it to my bro when he pops in for a visit later this week. Nice work. Cheers Stu (cocodemers bro)

in the name of the wee man - that takes me back a bit. good to see some pics of the olden days:) Found some a while back from Ronnie Nicol on his myspace or facebook or somewhere like that - very nostalgic. Haven't raced since '94 but still have the bug. Little bro Colin is getting well into...

    1999 Trek 8900 beater

Aye, the yellow/sid blue one was really nice, really light - spanner did get one of those, remember having a heap of grief getting the hayes discs to stop rubbing at the time. Hope's were much easier. I can't remember if it was Ian or me that spoke to Trek about you buying one back then; I...

    1999 Trek 8900 beater

Nice bike and good to see it - looks well used as it should do! Is it just me or is that another bent seatpost? Some of the earlier Treks had problems with paint blistering, but this was mainly on the bonded frames or their alu bikes. I remember a few of the 850's from the mid 90's doing it...

    Marzocchi Z2 1997

These are now available as spares to a good home for the price of postage. I spotted a crack in the underside of the crown when I was cleaning them up. (Would explain the play I felt in them...) Lowers are in good nick.

    Specialized Tyre(S) Wanted...Got one thanks.

hi Scant, do you still have those 1.5 hardpacks? I loved those tyres - had them on the Trek with P2 forks for summer riding. I lost them somewhere along the way but I'd love to get some more. Cheers Stu

The 'Introduce Yourself Here' thread II

Aye, that old Rockhopper is still there - it's sitting next to an old orange kona kilauea as far as I know. I don't think they get much use these days though! I remember belting down Ladycairn with you years ago on the Trek's - the same feel is still there in the frame although the longer...

The 'Introduce Yourself Here' thread II

Hi everyone, I've been visiting this site for a while and it only seems proper to introduce myself before this bankrupts me and I have to sell my computer.... I started mountain biking in 1989 in Inverness - some of the best riding I've ever had and right on the doorstep too. My first...

    Specialized Hardrock '87

The memories of the early bikes are the reason I've got this one - my first MTB was an '88 Rockhopper in blue with Exage mountain. I got that bike early in '89 from Highland Cycles - good price but a 21" frame which was way too big. This '87 frame was left in the workshop after the previous...

    Marzocchi Z2 1997

I've a used pair of these, without the original stickers. Steerer is 1 1/8 threaded 160mm with approx 50mm thread. Oil seals and stanchions are in good condition although if I remember right, the last time I had them on a bike I thought perhaps the bushings could do with being renewed as their...

    Specialized Hardrock '87

Hi folks, I thought I'd clean this one up and post some pics. The last snaps of it were rather poor and in it's commuter guise.... I'm guessing at the year being an '87 - it's certainly older than '88 as my first proper MTB was the Rockhopper from '88 and this predates it for sure. If anyone...

Clearout - XT Fmechs, Hope BB, XT V tuneupkit

I don't have the tool I'm afraid - my lbs has one but I don't think they'd part with it. Chain Reaction sell them at £13 but you could maybe try your nearest workshop and see if the mechanic wouldn't mind you coming in to fit it?
