    1991 GT Tequesta

Thanks! As far as the forks go, I've honestly never looked twice at them until you just mentioned it. It does indeed appear that mine rake way more than others. Could it be because it's a large frame (21")? Is it even posible to bend forks like that??? Anyone know what suspension fork was...

    1991 GT Tequesta

That's why. I was looking for a yellow version. They are selling for around $160 USD on eBay.

    1991 GT Tequesta

I've been following your build. Great job touching the decals up. I wish I had joined the site before stripping the paint and tried preserving it like you did. Live and learn. I have a vinyl cutter at my disposal at work, so I might buy some black vinyl and recreate the Tequesta script...

    1991 GT Tequesta

I know my bike doesn't fit in with a lot of restorations here, but I still feel I rescued it from just sitting around and rusting away, so I'm pleased with it's single speed conversion. There is a part of me that regrets stripping the splatter paint away though. Gil_M didn't have '91 Tequesta...

    Marin 1990 Bear Valley Rebuild - FINISHED !!! PAGE 38 !!!

I just read through the entire 20 pages. What a build! I can't wait to see this bike complete. Amazing workmanship! I love the delugging and wish I had seen this thread before I painted my GT. Might have to do a respray soon.

    1991 GT Tequesta

Thanks for the link to the catalogs. That is definitely my bike shown in it. I was calling it the wrong color as well. Guess it was actually called "Moody Blue".

    1991 GT Tequesta

Wow, all this time I thought it was a '92. Thanks for the info. Funny how I got used to calling it a 1992 GT Tequesta and I was incorrect the whole time. You guys are making me feel so bad about stripping the paint off. Maybe I should have found this site before going ahead with painting it...

    1991 GT Tequesta

^ Is there anything to destinguish between the two years? I thought I read somewhere that the splatter paint was only on the 1992-1993 Tequestas?

    1991 GT Tequesta

Thanks for all the responses. I still have the original Shimano Exige rear derailleur and the Suntour front derailleur, so if the single speed doesn't work I might just put the gearing back on. And the doulbe chainwhip techinique sounds like it might work. I'll have to try that!

    1991 GT Tequesta

I read that the Suntour cassettes had a locking small cog but I couldn't get it to move at all. I don't know if it's because I was doing it wrong or if it was jus seized up from it's age. I might take it to a local bike shop to see if they can get it off for me.

    1991 GT Tequesta

The photos I took didn't show the majority of scrapes and pits on the bike. There was also a large dent on the top tube that I had to fill in with JB Weld. I didn't really like the "fiesta" paint job anyway. It's a love it or hate it style.

    1991 GT Tequesta

New member here. :D I discovered this site while seaching online to determine what year my recently purchased GT Tequesta was. Thanks for the information to determine it's actually a 1991, not a 1992 model. I picked the bike up about a month ago from a classified ad with plans to make it a...

    Diamondback Apex help

Great looking Apex! I had an Apex with a Rock Shock Indy C front fork. It was my first real mountain bike. Loved that bike and had a blast riding it. Good luck with refurbishing it!

1992 GT Tequesta - wreck rescue!

I myself picked up a '92 GT Tequesta not too long ago. Mine had the blue "wild fiesta" paint scheme but it was far too gone to rescue, so I repainted it. Good luck with the restoration!
