    1994 Stumpjumper FS build questions

Re: Original fork length should be around 410mm , I have one out in the shed if you want the exact measurement. I would not deviate from that as I think they nailed the handling.

    Exotic Rigid Forks

I think it is aluminum and will ride harsher than a comparable Carbon fork. Personally a Salsa Cromoto steel fork in the right length would be what I would want, everybody who owns one comments on how nice they ride and what is going on my XXIX. Kona triple butted P2 's are supposed to ride nice...

    Who's got a 29'er?

Great think there. Want to buy my collection of 26 stuff? I built up a Fisher Wahoo for my wife because she falls over a lot., yes the entry level al wahoo, put a rigid fork and XT stuff I had laying around and she loves it, it's a Cadillac and is faster than my Sugar FS through the tight stuff...

    Spraying lacquer over lacquer.

Read the label. I can't imagine why one would want to spray lacquer when enamel is so much more durable and plenty shiny with clear enamel over the top. If you mix Lacquer / enamel you will not like the results.

    Spraying lacquer over lacquer.

So it's clear, that still does not tell me if you are spaying enamel or lacquer?

Judy and Poor Handling : Is it just me?

Can you link to a 92 English language Catalog showing suspension on the Zaskar as the two I found on retrobike only show 3D forks. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/v/M ... 2.pdf.html http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/v/M ... a49de39b70

Judy and Poor Handling : Is it just me?

I have the same Zaskar and a Manitou 3 yielded the same results. The GT 3D fork goes from apr. 42mm rake to around 51MM with 395mm atoc. Not sure on Judy specifications but the Manitou was 38mm rake and long enough to change the HA a degree. The 92 Zaskar is a NON suspension frame , I think 94...

    Pigs in Lipstick thread.

Richard Sachs probably knows a little about this so called phenomenon; " A frame's characteristics don't change over time, at least such that they can be noticed. Can we please cache this and get about 40+ years out of it? Once it gets into circulation, the source won't matter atmo. "

    Pigs in Lipstick thread.

What determines quality though, sometimes the "best" tubing in a line is not the best for you or what your preferences in a ride are. In my case 1989 Tange Prestige Bridegestone MB-1 vs 1993 Bridgestone MB-3 with Ritchey Logic tubing. Although the Prestige was a fine subtle ride I prefered the...

8 speed cassette and chain advice

XTR has a aluminum freehub, a steel cassette will eat it up , he needs a aluminum carrier.

    Outboard b/b on older bike

I am not sure that Zaskars are that wide, I think it depends more on the crank design. I pulled a Kooski off a 94 Zaskar and it had a 113mm BB.

Your thoughts on my Gary Fisher beater

He asked for opinions; "so your thoughts weather they be cruel or kind would be greatly received" I gave mine. People disagreed. and stated why. I stated my position and why I thought so. I could care less what POC he or you feel compelled to ride, It does not upset me at all...

Your thoughts on my Gary Fisher beater

700C equals 29er; worthless for offroad applications as proven by the current biggest marketshare wheelsize in the USA where we have no rocky technical trails, Ha . I doubt your potholes top ours , if you are eating 700c wheels it is the parts choice and or wheelbuilder not the wheel size...
