    80's GT Timberline year id

Came across this beauty. I know it's an '80's bike but I'm trying to nail down the year. I've seen what's supposed to be an '84 but the rear caliper is on the inside of the seatstay, not down on the chainstay like this one. Any idea? Any guess on the size?

'93 Cannondale M2000, what size does this look like?

There's an M2000 in mint condition for sale, still has the original tires. The seller claims it's a 20 inch frame. It looks closer to a 18 inch to me which is my size. What do you guys think? I know sellers don't always know how to properly size a bike. I would measure it myself but it's a four...

    ID a very early Marin

Marin was founded in '86 and I would guess this was made in their first year or two of existence. Can't find any catalogs that go back that far. Anyone know anything about this bike like the name or whatever? Looks pretty high end, I'm having trouble identifying the group and there's no better...

    '80s pedals with modern shoes?

If I may bring this back from the dead. I want some shoes to use with clips and straps (without cleats). I wear a 45 so finding some vintage ones on ebay is almost impossible. I don't really want classic looking leather shoes that some make. Too expensive and too hipster looking. I know in the...

    Rust Removal Advice needed...

Re: Yeah, that would probably work. It appears the rust may just be on the surface. Looking at the bike again it may be too small. The seller has it listed as a 56cm but it looks more like a 54. You think? I like it because it has tubulars.

    Rust Removal Advice needed...

Re: I'm looking at a Saronni I might be able to get for dirt cheap. Frame is in good condition except for the fork crown rust. You think I could get this looking presentable?

    Lotus Steel Bikes 1980-90

I've been wanting to get a vintage touring bike and I'm looking at this '84 Odyssey for sale. In '83 they went with Columbus SL tubing and were hand made by Tsuonda in Japan. The '84 doesn't have the Tsunoda decal, it may have been made by Maruishi. But Lotus bikes were very nice and to me this...

    Guerciotti

The '85 GLX 7800 (Columbus) has a similar paint scheme. The bike in question doesn't have the engraved seatstay caps, even the lower end 7400 had those so who knows. Nor does it appear to have the triangle things on the fork crown. I'm pretty sure they didn't use Reynolds tubing.

Are you sure the 531 decal is original? I thought Guerciotti used Columbus tubesets.

What tyres for a 1990s build

Conti Grand Prix Classic would be a good one. I ran Super Sport Ultra's in the 90's and they look similar with a brown sidewall. Michelin Dynamic Classic is another one.

    Help identifying....

Looks similar to an '89 Trek 5000 with that internal seat post clamp.

    Belgian style winter cycling caps

Those are the exact ones Molteni sells. Perfect except they're one size fits all.

    Belgian style winter cycling caps

Rapha used to make these, but no more. This is another discontinued one they made. That's 80's style there.

    Belgian style winter cycling caps

Those are nice but they're a modern style. I'll always be stuck in the 80's (except for the shorty short shorts haha)

    Belgian style winter cycling caps

Disregard, I found the perfect one made by Sealskinz. Comes in a s/m.

    Belgian style winter cycling caps

When I ride my vintage bikes I wear my casquette, not a helmet. In the winter I wear my 20+ year old Pearl Izumi skull cap thing that they no longer make that covers my ears under my cap. It works fine but I want a vintage style Belgian cap. My problem is my head is on the small size. The few...

Ordered my BRAND NEW 26 racing hardtail

Got it out today, this bike rips. I love the handling of a light 26" hardtail. The only thing I was concerned about were the brakes, they're lower end DB1's. But they were the biggest surprise. Plenty of power, no rotor rub and completely silent so far. The fork works fine but it'll be the first...
