Looking for some early Kona info

Yes it’s a pump peg brazed onto the seat stay. I read that the early frames could be optioned with different braze on accessories like the pump peg and that’s why not all frames are equipped the same.

Looking for some early Kona info

I recently purchased what was listed as an 89 Kona Explosif. It’s a repaint so wasn’t sure if it was an 88 or an 89 and if it was an explosif or possibly a cinder cone? I didn’t pay a great deal (other than freight!!) so not to worried either way but also thought it might be a Brodie possibly...

    Wanted: Pace RC31 V-Brake Kit

The Pace site actually shows the v-brake kit item in the online Pace store but when I try to order it asks me to sign in or register, and when I try to register the US is not a choice for location so I can't register. I will call them in the morning, but it looks like they may have the US...

    Wanted: Pace RC31 V-Brake Kit

Jules, Thanks for confirming for me. I will give them a call. The last RC31 I purchased directly from them years ago, and they were great to deal with so hopefully they will be able to help me. :) Jeff

    Wanted: Pace RC31 V-Brake Kit

Jules, I had seen that info about a limited run of RC31 forks on the Pace website and the reference to the vbrake mounting kits. I couldn't tell for sure if that was a fresh ad or an older website listing especially with the DT Swiss acquisition. It looked new though, so I tried emailing...

Hi, I am looking for a Pace RC31 V-Brake Kit. Prefer black, but silver would work. Located in the US but can do paypal and cover shipping. Trying to complete an RC31 fork install on my Bontrager and want to keep it v-brake if possible. Thanks Jeff

Question about a 96 Bontrager Privateer

Thanks for verifying that for me, its really appreciated! I just took delivery of a nice 26.8 ti post that I will have to find a new home for. I won and paid for this newly acquired 96 Privateer back on 10/23 and it still hasnt been shipped yet due to some issues going on with a death in the...

    Fitting BB7

Nice Stumpjumper...really clean! I had an M2 stumpy S works myself in that horrific green color (came stock with red forks). I actually wish I could find another in that color. Those are great handling bikes that can be built-up into an ultra light XC trail runner. Sounds like thats your plan...

    High-end canti's

Here are some nice grafton levers. Light and adjustable for long or short pull. Very cool levers. I am also a major fan of the Real "X" levers. These are light and also pull adjustable for either v-brake or canti's and look really nice to boot. They use aluminum chainring bolts for the...

Question about a 96 Bontrager Privateer

Hey there, I am trying to confirm seatpost size specification for a 1996 Bontrager Privateer. I am still awaiting delivery of the bike or I would not be bothering you for this information. Having owned a Race Lite and a Ti-Lite in the past I know those were 26.8mm and 27.0mm seatpost sizes...

'87 Fat Chance- Dirt Drop with Origin 8 'Gary Bar'

Here is a link to a cool stem application which lets you compare two different stems in a color-coded overlay. Allows you to add spacers, change rise and extension, etc. Pretty cool tool. http://alex.phred.org/stemchart/

    2008 Niner Air9

Thanks for the positive feedback. I just realized that if you look at the pic with the rear brake and drop-out you can see one vintage part that has been with me since the early 90's. I originally bought two sets of control tech ti allen skewers back in the day. One set went on my Amp B2 and...

    2008 Niner Air9

I have not checked it on a hang-scale yet. Based on my parts spreadsheet with a bias towards heavier weight than "best-case" dreaming, the bike comes out at around 21 lbs and some change. Worst case probably 22 lbs. Having had a few 19-20 lb bikes I can honestly say I think thats what it weighs...

    2008 Niner Air9

Had to post some pics of my latest "contemporary" rig a 2008 scandium framed Air9 with color matching Reynolds steel fork. Other than the SLX crankset its a full 970 XTR driveline including the ti rear cassette, Juicy Ultimate brakeset with the carbon levers, Flite TT saddle, and easton monkey...

    GT Avalanche 1992

I love that 92 model year avalanche and that paint job. I bought one from a guy about 6 months ago and after getting a close look realized it it had JB weld across the bottom bracket shell and had been cleverly painted to disguise it. I removed the bottom bracket and sure enough you could see...
