    Getting rid of a mouse

I second the electronic trap... I've found them easily the most effective and so long as the batteries are good they almost never fail to kill the mouse. In my opinion they're the most humane kind too, obviously it's an instantaneous death, none of the horrible mangling that other traps often...

No, I don't have too many bicycles. Until it's time to move house

Ah, now you can relax, safe in the knowledge that nothing will happen for another few months at least...

The "I'm not doing so well" thread

Was going to say just this - I had a similar episode (at home, thankfully) a couple of years ago when I stupidly overdid things while under the weather from COVID. Having seen it happening my family were convinced it was a proper seizure, but it wasn't; paramedics confirmed all my stats were...

    Paris Olympics

    Yep!

    Paris Olympics

Not a lot, all the best to them - I'm just not in the least interested in watching them do it. If folk want to jump over sticks or run round in circles I really don't mind, just don't pretend that you're doing something of intrinsic value any more than I am when out on my entirely unimpressive...

    Paris Olympics

I won't be watching, I've never watched the Olympics (or any other sporting event) at any time. I just don't see the attraction in watching any sports - frankly I hate participating in every one I've ever tried except cycling and even then I'd hate to do cycling as a "sport". Maybe I'm simple...

    Homeplug 2nd wifi zone solution?

Meshing WiFi is always the worst solution - always has been and probably always will be due to the non-negotiable laws of physics coupled with the law of never having power sockets in suitable locations. Obviously a cable to the workshop and an access point in there is the best solution; second...

    Cracked windscreen

Nah, it's quite straight - all were obvious stone chips which developed into cracks. Rural Scottish roads, V70 with approx 110k of my miles and 95k of someone else's... it was a boulder in the verge that did for my destroyed wheel too, though it was alloy and the metal did not look like it was...

    Cracked windscreen

My car is now on (at least) its fifth windscreen... had at least three broken springs and one destroyed wheel too. The roads are in a dangerously bad state these days...

    Wall mounted Key Safes- recommendations

I had to do some work this week at a location with a key safe and thought it's probably the best I've used so far: I think it was this one... https://keysafe.co.uk/products/supra-c500-pro-key-safe The Squire push-button ones are pretty easy to "pick" and don't have a hook on the inside for the...

    Printers (photoprinters not 3D) <advice required!>

I had the opportunity of a barely-used 3880 for nothing the other week; pricing up a full set of cartridges confirmed that I definitely don't need it!

    Round mother's for tea

Certainly a good deal more logical than mine: Breakfast Dinner Supper Supper Has been driving the wife mad for a couple of decades now, but I like to think I'm logical and consistent regarding nearly everything else!

Anyone have any Milwaukee power tools?

I have registered a couple of tools with them within the last year or so and do vaguely recall it unexpectedly being a bit of a pain. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly how it was a pain or what the answer was - only that I succeeded in the end!

    And today I did......

Welcome back to the (b)right side! Although I'm not that far away I almost never ride out that way mostly because I'd have to deal with the A9 to get there and it's not much fun on a bike but there are a lot of nice roads around and guaranteed to be quite a lot of nice off-roads too. Post up...

    Missing parcels

I've been waiting for over a week for two different items bought on eBay from completely different sellers - both have gone into the Hermes system and disappeared.
  17. A

Will this revolutionary system ever catch on?

Of course it won't - it might be OK in sunny Italy but can you imagine it working in the claggy depths of the Scottish winter? Besides, it's surely the very dumbest possible way to change gear when the epicyclic geared hub has already been around for about half a century?

Show us what you did today, thread

Not today, but was on holiday last week for the first time in two years... naturally it poured with rain until the Friday but that gave me enough time to get round to fitting brakes that work. Handy when your house is half way down a long and very steep hill!

    And today I did......

Thanks, that's what I was trying to tell myself as well :) I was too tight to pay the extra few quid for blue calipers to match the bike but justified that by telling myself I was leaving open my options for the next bike I transfer them to! (Also, the black/silver was easier to get hold of.)

    And today I did......

It's been one of those weeks. Lovely weather on Monday but duties meant I couldn't go near a bike. Lovely day on Tuesday so quit early and headed out on the road bike - got half way round my loop and the rear end went decidedly wobbly, my first puncture in a year or two! I don't bother...
