Which way round do you have your brakes.

North America North America standard is front brake with left hand (i.e. opposite of a motorcycle).

agreed! A few fellas above are right on the money. Without a doubt it's a 17" Rocky Mountain Cirrus which has been repainted.

1992 Rocky Mountain Experience Project Resto Mod!

I thought about it, but Syncros BB's aren't the most reliable and I wouldn't be able to see it anyway. So I used temporarily used a modern steel FSA BB until I find a titanium model later.

    Cutting down fork steerers

Re: fork steerer It should work fine on steel since plumbers use theirs to cut cast iron pipe regularly. The only caveat with a pipe cutter, is that with a soft material like aluminum, it swells the metal to either side of the cut. Basically, the edge of the cut will have a slightly...

    Cutting down fork steerers

The easiest way to get a straight cut while doing this at home is to get an old aheadset spacer to use as a cutting guide when using a hacksaw. Find out where you want the line, place the spacer right there, tape it to the tube with some duct tape or similar product and then cut away. The...

    Where next?

I agree with hardtails eventually making a strong come-back, but only if XC racing somehow draws far more sponsorship $$. The downhill market is so strong (especially where I live) but it can't possibly appeal to all. After all, the entire planet isn't covered with mountains and you can't ride...

1992 Rocky Mountain Experience Project Resto Mod!

The post size is either 30.2mm or 30.4. Using a cheap dollar store caliper, I measured the diameter of the post and it read 30.4mm. This bike is no help since the Syncros post has no markings. While I had a Kalloy Uno seatpost installed on my 1st Experience, that's no help either because the...

eBay...what a great place to waste time on jackasses.......

I finally took delivery yesterday after paying 41 days ago. Apparently the seller waited 2 weeks then went on vacation and left it with someone else to ship. When he got back it still hadn't been shipped yet and he found that I'd left him with negative feedback and initiated a paypal dispute.

1994 Rocky Mountain Altitude Project Resto-Mod!

I only ride the lands once a year, (at night usually). Burnaby Mountain is my usual haunt. I like riding hills, so the Endowment lands don't give me enough cardio. On the other hand, you wouldn't have to twist my arm to convince me to ride along Kits Beach on a hot Summer weekend.

1992 Rocky Mountain Experience Project Resto Mod!

Sorry, my Syncros collection only gets bigger. It's kind of an addiction really. I have a spare set of steel Revolution cranks and forks, but they'll eventually be used on some other Rocky project.

1992 Rocky Mountain Experience Project Resto Mod!

It has a really old school Syncros seatpost with a long extinct top clamp and I wonder if I have it facing the wrong direction. Why? The rear bolt seems perilously close to the bottom semi-circle. Can any other original Syncros seatpost owners comment?

but wait..weight? As she sits she's 23.43 lbs. I was shocked at how heavy she was but then I remembered that I can lose weight by shedding the: - Oury lock-on grips (heavy...) - Taiwanese made 60 tpi 2.1" Panaracer FireXC Pro tires (615 g each) - generic presta 2.0 tubes Soo...I figure...

    8 speed cassette + 7 speed thumbshifters?

I don't know where I got the idea, but I thought I could run an 8 speed cassette with my Deore XT 7 speed thumbshifters. Something about the thumbies having an extra index in them. When I went to have the cables run yesterday at my LBS, they said that I had to use a 7 speed cassette (a...

    A request...

Ditto Agreed, I didn't want to be the first to say it but some of the avatars could be problematic. Since this is a bike related site, I'd like to be able to check it out on my mini-breaks from work, but the nudity spoils it.
