    British Eagle Randonnee restoration

Yay another British Eagle! Hi William, Always glad to see another British Eagle. You're correct twice over, they are lovely bikes and the Touristique was the 531ST tube set. There was also a Triathlon model, the Aris Tri. Your decals have faired better than mine. I spent a lot of effort...

    My mens Falcon Black Diamond

My first "proper" bike was a Falcon Black Diamond bought new around 1976/77 I think. Definitely the same era transfers as yours. They were a good, solid entry level bike, apart from the dodgy brake lever extensions so popular at the time. Mine, I think, had a frame sticker saying it was made...

Shimano 7 speed index lever with 8 speed cassette

Apologies if this is a double post but my original seems to have disappeared. I have 7 speed Indexing Shimano 600 Ultegra levers and rear derailleur which is SIS compatable to 8 speed. Can I use the levers for an 8 speed cassette using the end stop for the 8th gear or is the difference...

    British Eagle Randonnee restoration

Back on the Road Apart from a few details that need tidying here's the finished bike. Mudguards going on soon for winter and a Brooks B17 at some point I think. I was concerened about the Suntour Accushift as I remember it being a right pain but with a new hyper glide chain and NOS Accushift...

Suntour xc pro rear hubs saga

Just wondered if you'd spotted this on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suntour-Cassette- ... 1c1689f424 I checked the part number against the XC catalogue which lists it as a Microdrive cassette. (OK there's also an MD logo on the box but just making sure) See here...

    British Eagle Randonnee restoration

Ultimately I'd love to get it back to original factory spec although it never was in my ownership since I asked for flat bars to be fitted when I bought it. OK stupid decision in hindsight but this was my London commuter bike so flat bars made sense at the time. Also finding out just what was...

Suntour xc pro rear hubs saga

Hi Michael, I think you'll find it is a 7 speed although the cassette is retained by the last two gears screwing into place. Gutted that isn't the right hub for you though. PM me and we can try and sort something out

    British Eagle Randonnee restoration

British Eagle Randonnee, which I bought new in 1989. Frame stripped and part prepared prior to going for blasting and powder coating. ; Frame looks similar to the Touristique except it's made with the 531CS tube set (501 forks and stays) and only has one pair of mounting lugs on the rear...

    8mm barrel end brake cables

Does any one know where I can get brake cables with an 8mm barrel end as opposed to the 6.75 mm that is the current standard? Or even some adaptor shims?

Suntour xc pro rear hub. 32h. 7 speed.

I have just aquired a QR (no skewer) Suntour XC Pro rear hub, 32 hole, 135mm OLN which is surplus to requirements. Unused although it does have some very light scratches.
