This Klein Palomino XV used to be John’s - he wrote a glowing review of it https://autobus.cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=tech/2004/reviews/klein_palomino_xv - he passed it to me in February, and I think my daughter has claimed it (“it’s weird, nobody else will have one like it, can I use it?”)

Are you still looking for these?
I *think* I have a pair with the fine threads kicking about in the spares boxes. If you still want them, I'd happily swap them for your blanking nuts.
If you have a Hahanna and are comfortable on it, and have suitable racks and mudguards. Then (with a rigid fork and some slick tyres of 1.5" to 2" section), I'd use that.
My next multi-day tour is likely to be on my "gravelised" '92 Breezer Sky.
Disregarding at least some of the above (frame material). If you are a shorter chap (165cm to 175cm tall), then this, whilst listed as a women's bike would be on my list to at least try out:

Go for a steel frame rather than aluminium alloy or carbon fibre, purely for the "repairability" - you'll find somebody who can weld steel tubes well enough to get you to the next city on almost every farm or in almost every village. Exotic frame materials are much more difficult to get fixed up...
How much sag do you plan to run on the fork?
25% sag on 120mm travel fork (30mm sag) would leave the geometry effectively the same as running 10% sag on 100mm travel fork - they would both have 90mm of travel "left" and the effective axle to crown length would be about the same, but the longer...
OK, hats has got confusing/busy.
At the moment, I *think* that @Stormylolol is in prime position for the orange BULA hat (because his was the first response about the hats), with @minor_LEGEND in pole position for the blue BULA hat (because he was the first to specify the blue one). Is that...
Guide prices added. Please feel free to offer more - every penny will go to Cancer Research UK.
Pedals sold to slimjoe (to be reunited with his/John's Bontrager).
Stormylolol has first "dibs" on the hats.
See here https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/some-more-sad-news-im-afraid.487494/ for the story.
Here’s the first tranche of bits to come out of John’s ongoing garage and shed clear out: for reasons that I hope are fairly clear, I don’t think the normal pricing rules apply here. *ALL* the money...
@slimjoe I wonder if you might be persuaded to enter John's old Bontrager into the next BoTM that it is eligible for? It would certainly be nice to see it again, if only virtually.
Reviving this old thread with something that might be exciting to some:
The sorting out of John Valentine (nee Stevenson)'s garage over the weekend turned up a bike's worth of M739 XT V-brakes with Shimano "Prototype" stickers on the rear. These will almost certainly be the oldest XT V-brakes in...
Some of you may remember my friend, John Stevenson from his days in the '80s and 90's as Deputy Editor at MBUK.
About 18 months ago we learned that John had advanced bowel and liver cancer and was going to need some pretty aggressive treatment to have any chance of survival. He had a section of...
With or without logo?
I have a set of Rastas, but one of the (yellow) washers is broken.
I've been meaning to turn up a replacement and get it anodised, but could consider selling.
What would you consider a reasonable price?
And Otis is such a cool guy. I have very happy memories of riding Slickrock and then Amasa Back with him, Joe (Breeze), Tom (Ritchey) and a few other "names" at the Canyonlands Fat Tire Festival in Moab, October 1993.
