Haha Nathan, I've saved all the same pictures. Sorry OP but I have to partake ;). Here's what I can figure. The DHO was released in '97, so the team would have been running the prototype in '96. But all 3 of the pics you posted from '96 appear to have 2 bolt Boxxer style dropouts, whereas...

    ...

FWIW, I think the team only '97 Boxxers had similar decals to the production '98s, but had bolt on arches. The one in the '97 Yeti catalog looks like a prototype with Judy DHO decals.

Dmr trailstar 1998 blue dirt spec

Just wanted to say that's the nicest Trailstar I've ever seen. If it was built by accident, I hope you preserve it by accident too ;).

1992 Mountain Cycle San Andreas * Updated pics page 3

Greatest mountain bike of all time. And yours might be the best surviving example. No biggie.

    start of something beautiful

Just saw this. Had to say WOW . Coomber, I think Rey and Lenosky both used SIDs that year (the first year they came out), and they were used for 4x/dirt jumping right up through y2k by teams like Animal Orange (Minnaar, Geall).

Can anyone help me identify an old Kona?

That did occur to me, but aside from the drilling the proportions of the rocker look stock...

Can anyone help me identify an old Kona?

Thanks slope, I'm glad I'm not crazy! Should have put something about the fork in the title, might have to start a separate thread to identify it...

Can anyone help me identify an old Kona?

Thanks TedC. It was bought locally at a consignment store, so should be in its native market as Kona was still Canadian at the time. The cranks are actually XT by the way, the writing isn't visible in this pic. Before asking on here I did some quick internet searching, and from what I can...

Can anyone help me identify an old Kona?

I sold this bike the better part of a decade ago, but I've never been quite sure of the year. I bought it second hand with some strange parts, and the decals and paint seem to be off a 1999 King Kikapu, but the frame seems to be a '98. To make things even more confusing the fork (which I still...

Late 90's DH bike collection - GT DHi and Intense Tazer FS

Your garage needs the word "Museum" printed above the door with hours of operation. I don't know anything about the Thermoplastic GTs but those early Super 8s were prone to cracking under the headtube (for that matter I've heard of the same thing happening to the alu Lobos). Be careful...

Intense Tazer FS 1999 – Finished!!!! Pics on page 5

Haha it's funny cause there's only one Tazer in the video ;). It's a bit of a Voreis fanboy video, he travels the World Cups with Peaty, visits Lopes and does a slopestyle comp, then gets his own section. Makes me wonder why they say early Tazers are so fragile...did he just get a lot of...

    Azonic DS-1 Build progress

Aussie World Cup racer. Silver Z.1s, Profile cranks, Rhynolites?, MRP?, might have had v-brakes... I assume it was his DS bike, but it's better known as his street/dirt jump bike in a few videos from around that time.

    Azonic DS-1 Build progress

Would be cool to see a Jared Rando period build. Careful, the headtubes on these tended to fall off...

The MTB Introduce Yourself Here Thread IV

I suppose I should introduce myself at some point. I'm Alex, 22 years old from Vancouver, I've been riding street since my 13th birthday, trials since my 20th and downhill for about 4 years now (unless you count the standard baptism by fire of being taken down technical DH trails on your...

    project X (Grove content)

Is it just me or does Hans Rey circa 1991 need to know about this bike? It looks so far ahead of it's time!

Intense Tazer FS 1999 – Finished!!!! Pics on page 5

Thank you! The blue paint on your Tazer makes me wonder if it was one of the '99 Haro team bikes, maybe Mike King's? If you want to get extra stoked to ride it, check out the 2001 DVD 'Evolution' with Kirt Voreis.

Is this really pre- '98 disc only? Looks better than some of the modern street-trials frames out there!
