Attention Vitus 979 owners and other classics....

Did a quick search of the forum to wonder if anybody else had received a similar PM. Looks like I'm not alone, though thus far you all appear to be road bike fans... Apparently they consider my clapped out old GT Timberline to be a '1001 Bicycles to Dream of Riding Before You Die'

Embarrassing Build Mistakes of the Mechanical Kind

I can only think I did a bad job of repacking a rear hub that was on it's last legs... As I rode along the cones worked their way loose, built up pressure on the QR skewer which sheared at the nut with such pressure that I never found the nut again. It shot off like a bullet.

    retro mini disc players

Still got something like the Sony MDS-JE470 gathering dust in a cupboard at home. Having looked at how little they fetch on the 'bay these days, it'll probably stay there. I should see if it still works.

GT Timberline, what year though?green.like this link.

Re: i have a GT Timberline, what year though?green. GT did the deep metallic green Timberline in 1994 and 1995 too.. Pics of mine should be in my sig... But it isn't lime green. Having had a mooch on Google I'd side with JamesM's guess of 1999, pending a photo.

    NWA: Delamere Forest ~ 28/07/2012 ~ AFTERMATH on pg2.

Pity I didn't see you around on that day, I was riding my modern bike, it was a good day. Its hard work stringing together an end to end route in Delamere, I seem to always end up just riding trails I know. It looks like you managed to snag a good run along most of the routes I'm aware of...

what do we think of Halfords

Fine if you know what you're after. But most of their customers probably don't know what they're after. I did the reading and bought the Fury based off that, couldn't get near the spec from a boutique brand. After-sales support was pathetic.

    Talking of Parrots!!

When I was a youngun we looked after my grandma's African Grey parrot after she passed away... He was a cranky old fella and prone to the odd outburst. My mother was sorting out the funeral arrangements, with a member of the clergy popping in to sort out the service... The parrot took one...

Fuel economy - What do you get?

43.9mpg in a 2011 Mazda 2 1.35l VVT thing. Costing me less than the last one (same model) did in fuel too. Dare say it would be more if I drove down the M58 to work, but that adds 6 miles on to the journey.
